Residential and Supported Employment Manager

This manager's position at Abilities consists of planning, directing, and coordinating two resources in our residential and supported employment program. This means that you will be responsible for managing all human resource management activities - from recruitment efforts to ensuring that organizational policies are applied to maximize the strategic use of employees while complying with any applicable guidelines or organizational regulations.
**Tasks**
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of a residential group home for two individuals with developmental disabilities.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of our supported employment program (Monday-Friday);
- Advise employees on organizational policy matters;
- Identify staff vacancies and recruit, interview and select applicants;
- Perform difficult staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, refereeing disputes, firing employees, and administering disciplinary procedures;
- Plan and conduct new employee orientations to foster a positive attitude toward organizational objectives;
- Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinates and staff relating to employment, compensation, labour relations, and employee relations;
- Plan, organize, direct, control or coordinate the personnel, training, or labour relations activities of an organization;
- Represent the organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations;
- Serve as a link between management and employees by handling questions, interpreting and administering support plans and helping resolve work-related problems.
**Qualifications and requirements**
- Education in human resources, vocational counselling, or a related field;
- Management experience is essential, management experience supporting people with developmental disabilities is preferred;
- Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work, and identify the best people for the job;
- Ability to be aware of others' reactions and understand why they react as they do, to use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions and to bring others together and try to reconcile differences.

- This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday. Managers are expected to be available monthly for a weekend on-call rotation.
**Compensation**
- $66,650.00 per year
