Overview:
Promote the sale of Ready Mix Concrete in the Tri-Cities & Brantford Area and cultivate new customers that accept Lafarge as their “Supplier of Choice”. The incumbent will develop and sustain a Business Strategy designed to increase sales in their territory; provide technical service to customers; aid the territory Marketing and Sales efforts within the Business Unit; and will monitor the quality and performance of Lafarge products in their territory. In this position the representative needs to know their market, the customers, competitive products, spec writers, the consulting engineering community and other industry related persons. Developing these relationships will allow the representative to provide maximum value to the customer and our company.

**Responsibilities**:
**Safety**
- Health and Safety: Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving, and adhering to safety policies in all work environments.
- Ensures all aspects of his/her role are executed in a safe manner.
- Obeys safety guidelines when on construction sites and Lafarge operations.

**Sales**
- The Sales Rep will have accountability for defined customer segments with detailed budgets and objectives.
- He/she will have targets for existing customers and prospective customers.
- They will understand our customer’s product and business requirements and translate the current and unmet needs of customers into sales opportunities.
- Provide accurate monthly/yearly forecasting, and provide detailed job specific backlog reports across customer portfolio.
- Promote the use of Concrete Direct & Direct A platforms.
- Tracks and interprets market indicators (ie. Construction starts, building permits, housing starts).
- Promote our branded series of Value added products and hold customer and specifying community education events.

**Customer Management, AR, Credit & Collections**
- Communicate with customers about billing issues, disputes, logístical or quality issues to resolve accounts in a timely manner.
- Liaise with QC to properly quote and award customer project contracts to ensure proper pricing for correct mixes and avoid charge backs and dissatisfied customers.
- In coordination with the credit team, engages accounts on collections of outstanding invoices.

**Specific Accountabilities**:

- Safety Performance objective is “Zero”
- Manage price & volume targets for the assigned territory
- Performs all quoting and price management for their territory and
- Promote branded mixes and value added sales
- Conduct regularly scheduled visits and manage a targeted portfolio of customers.

**Relationships with Others**:

- Reports to Commercial Manager
- Works closely with entire sales organization including VAP Rep.
- Works closely with QC and operations personnel
- Works in conjunction with Credit, Quality Assurance & Customer Service Department to further overall Sales performance.

**Dimensions**
- The Tri-Cities & Brantford is approximately 95,000 m3 (Lafarge volume), 3 plants (Cambridge, Guelph, Brantford)

**Working Conditions**:

- Working in a construction type environment with occasional exposure to unpleasant weather conditions.
- Work activities are performed in an environment with pressure for deadlines, quotas or need for accuracy and possibly unpleasant client contacts.
- Some flexibility is required to address concerns outside of normal working hours and with an occasional need for overnight travel, typically within Ontario.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will need to navigate on foot over uneven ground and work around moving mechanical parts and equipment. Various PPE will include safety boots, reflective clothing, safety glasses, gloves and hard hat.

Qualifications:

Education and Work Experience_**
- Post-secondary education in a related field (Business, Engineering Technology, etc.) is an asset.
- Knowledge of the construction industry required
- Strong English language skills
- 2+ Years work experience in Sales
