**Description**:
Reporting to the Chief of operations, the Inspector - Permits and Certificates enforces municipal by-laws and ensures that work is compliant with the permit or certificate, until it is completed.

**Departmental mission**:
Contribute to citizens’ quality of life by enforcing Pointe-Claire by-laws and protecting Pointe-Claire territory with integrity and vigilance.

**General responsibilities and goals**:

- Inspects work for compliance with permits and certificates issued by Planning;
- Checks work for compliance with the permits and certificates as approved, and carries out any inspections required;
- Interprets and enforces municipal planning by-laws and those under the jurisdiction of Inspection - Public Security, as well as provincial legislation and requirements;
- Participates in and executes various assignments within his or her area of responsibility;
- Drafts and prepares reports on completed inspections, and ensures that work is compliant with the permit or certificate, until it is completed;
- Gives evidence in court at various levels, as required;
- Provides first aid, as required, pending the arrival of the competent authorities;
- Establishes a security perimeter when a traffic accident occurs, pending the arrival of the competent authorities;
- Performs related duties as required;
**Job requirements**:

- A college diploma in an appropriate;
- Two years of relevant experience;
- A valid Class 4A driver’s licence;
- Ability to speak and write French, and to speak English;
- Certificate of completion of a general course on construction site health and safety;
- Knowledge of current building codes;
- Knowledge of the Office Suite of software;
- Ability to write reports.

**Schedule**:
For the period between Thanksgiving and the first (1st) Monday of May: Monday to Friday, inclusive, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., minus one (1) hour for lunch.

For the period between the first (1st) Monday of May and Thanksgiving: Monday to Thursday, inclusive, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., minus forty-five (45) minutes for lunch; Friday, 8:00 a.m. to noon.
