Thunder Bay, Canada North Star Air Ltd. Full time

**Purpose of the Position**:
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Manager of Accounting will be responsible for managing the company's day to day accounting functions, including maintaining accounting controls, practices, and procedures as well as the preparation of financial statements. This role will be a member of the North Star Air accounting management team and will be located in Thunder Bay. North Star Air is a rapidly growing cargo, charter and passenger airline that serves over 50 remote communities in northern Canada.

**Responsibilities & Duties**:

- Manage the accounting operations including the review of journal entries, semi-monthly payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory and fixed assets.
- Manage and maintain accounting policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
- Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements and internal reporting.
- Provide leadership, coaching and mentoring to staff in support of achieving company goals and objectives;
- Other related duties as required or assigned.

**Desired Skills & Experience**:

- University degree, preferably in Business/Accounting.
- Professional accounting designation combined with 3-5 years of progressive experience is preferred.
- Thorough understanding of all aspects of financial and management accounting including financial reporting, budgeting, capital budgeting, cash flow projections, and internal controls is an asset.
- Good working knowledge of computerized financial systems and Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience in the Aviation industry is beneficial.
- Highly self-motivated, enterprising and result-oriented with a passion for delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to coach and mentor employees
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work effectively with team members and other internal stakeholders
