The IT Field Technician is responsible for providing both on-site and remote technical support to end-users by diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving hardware, software, and peripheral issues. This role requires a combination of troubleshooting expertise, customer service skills, and the ability to work independently in dynamic customer environments. Travel will be required to support uses on-site, and participation in an on-call rotation is expected to provide after hours support as required.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Provide on-site and remote technical service and support to end-users by troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and peripheral issues.
- Travel to various locations within the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) and surrounding region to diagnose, repair, upgrade, and maintain devices such as desktops, laptops, servers, MFP, and other peripherals.
- Utilize Incident Management Software to document and track service requests, ensuring issues are resolved within defined Service Level Agreements (SLA).
- Interact with end-users to gather information, analyze issues, and provide regular updates on restoration status.
- Perform installations, configurations, and component replacements on workstations, devices, and related equipment.
- Assist in site preparation, staging, and the testing of new hardware before deployment.
- Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate teams or external vendors when necessary.
- Work collaboratively with internal technical support teams and external service providers.
- Participate in an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support as required.
**Qualifications**:
- Diploma in Computer Service/Support of equivalent combination of formal industry recognized training.
- 3 to 5 years experience in a service-oriented technical support role, preferably in a field service environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of all Microsoft and Apple products.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license (and insurance if opting to use your own vehicle).
- Successfully pass a Canadian Criminal Record Background Check and Canadian Drivers Abstract Check.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks efficiently in a field service setting.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact with end-users effectively.
