**About the Role**:
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented **Part-Time Controller** to oversee our financial operations. This role is ideal for a seasoned finance professional who is comfortable working independently and collaboratively, and who brings deep knowledge of accounting principles, compliance requirements, and financial strategy in a dynamic business environment.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Oversee all accounting functions including month-end and year-end close processes in accordance with **IFRS**.
- Working with Operations Manager, oversee **procurement and accounts payable** workflows, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
- Supervise **payroll** processes and liaise with payroll providers to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Prepare and submit **SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development)** claims, working with internal stakeholders and external consultants as needed.
- Manage **indirect tax filings and remittances** (e.g., GST/HST, QST, PST), ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
- Coordinate and support **external audit**, including preparation of working papers and responses to auditor inquiries.
- Prepare and analyze **monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements**, budgets, and forecasts.
- Maintain strong internal controls and develop improved financial procedures.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.
- Use **QuickBooks** (or similar accounting software) to manage day-to-day transactions and reporting.

**Qualifications**:

- CPA designation or equivalent accounting qualification preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in accounting and financial management, with a strong understanding of IFRS.
- Proven experience with SR&ED claims, indirect tax compliance, and audit processes.
- Proficiency in **QuickBooks** and Microsoft Excel; experience with additional financial systems is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and integrity.
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain financial matters to non-financial stakeholders.
- Flexible schedule with potential for remote or hybrid work.

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: From $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 20 per week

Schedule:

- Monday to Friday

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Burnaby, BC V5G 4R8
