As the **National Wildland Fire Geomatics Coordinator (EG-05)**, you will:
- lead the efforts that acquire, analyze, share, and communicate geographic information related to wildland fire;
- work with teams of other national-level geomatics coordinators and specialists to integrate their conservation geomatics efforts with wildland fire programs;
- work with the National Fire Management divisionand other teams who lead national conservation programs, and with national park GIS and wildfire specialists to plan and respond to challenges related to wildland fire and other aspects of conservation;
- participate in the role of GIS specialist with National Incident Management Teams and may be deployed to incidents across the country.
The position will interact virtually with colleagues from across the country.
**The core activities of this position will include**:
1. Conducting needs analyses and preparing geomatics-related plans and strategies.
2. Managing the implementation of national wildfire and conservation geomatics systems, standards and tools; and, liaising with park specialists to ensure conformity with national standards and guidelines.
3. Providing technical analysis, interpretation, presentation and modeling of geospatial data for wildfire and conservation functions.
4. Designing and delivering training on geomatics-related tools.
5. Coordinating the use of contractors to support geomatics programs and activities.
6. May participate in the role of GIS Specialist (or other roles) on deployments with National Incident Management Teams.

Graduation with a university degree, college diploma, or certificate with specialization in Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, or other discipline relevant to the position; or, an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
Degree equivalency
EXPERIENCE
- EX1: Significant experience* using Geographic Information System (GIS) tools and software, including the ESRI suite of tools, to acquire, analyze, share, and communicate geospatial information.
- EX2: Experience** providing leadership in the development, implementation and maintenance of geomatics tools and products, including specifying and prioritizing technical requirements and designing spatial and/or non-spatial data structures.
*“Significant experience” is defined as a minimum of approximately 3 years (36 months) of cumulative work experience.
**“Experience” is defined as a minimum of 12 months of cumulative work experience.

- K1: Knowledge of how geomatics tools are applied to the management of wildland fire and conservation.
ABILITIES
- A1: Ability to develop a geomatics approach to solve a problem, present the approach to stakeholders, make revisions based on feedback, and follow through with a solution.
- A2: Ability to effectively communicate concepts and ideas, orally, graphically and in writing.
- A3: Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues/problems.
- A4: Ability to deal with deadlines and multiple competing priorities.
PERSONAL SUITABILITY

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Reliability Status security clearance
- Valid driver’s license.
- May be required to wear a Parks Canada uniform.
- Willingness to work overtime and to travel on short notice.
