**Opportunity**

PCRS requires an experienced outreach youth worker for the IRAYL program. The Outreach workers operate multi-regionally, in pairs and provide immediate response services to at-risk youth at all Skytrain stations across the Lower Mainland. This position requires a sound understanding of behaviours that impact at-risk youth including poverty; youth gang issues, street entrenchment, substance misuse, FASD and mental health barriers. The successful applicant will have expertise in working with youth, experience as an outreach worker and strong abilities to use sound judgment and initiative.

**Work is based on a rotating shift schedule of 11:30 - 8:00 pm and 3:00 pm - 11:00 pm, Monday to Friday, including flexibility that may involve weekend participation.**
**This position can be quite physical involving long stretches of walking, inclement weather and always carrying a full backpack.**

**Responsibilities**
- Provide outreach services to youth along the Skytrain line and hubs located at Skytrain stations.
- Establish relationships with youth to ensure they are connected to various community resources.
- Engage with and encourage youth to participate in pro-social activities located near Skytrain stations by offering access passes, schedules, resources, etc..
- Attending various community meetings to identify youth and their specific needs, mapping and locating family and community networks, forming relationships with other service providers and agencies to ensure all information is current and relevant.

**Qualifications**
- B.A. in a related field plus one-year related experience, or a Child and Youth Care or Youth Justice Diploma plus two years’ experience, or a combination of related work experience and education with at-risk youth.
- Experience working with children and youth from immigrant, refugee and aboriginal communities is an asset as is the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with multiple police authorities and social service providers throughout Metro Vancouver.
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector
- Standard first-aid certificate and CPR
- Computer skills (MS Word/Excel/Outlook)
