**Job Summary**
- Develop commercial electric vehicle upfitting hardware product lines, various trade packages, and specialty vehicles, as well as develop inhouse fabrication and installation strategy and planning in parallel. Develop project timelines.
- Design products to meet desired specifications for new products, cost improvements, channel initiatives, and other corporate objectives
- Play a key role in brain-storming new designs leveraging end user insights, competitive analysis, and use of manufacturing and customer care data
- Provide technical sales & marketing support and drive team to meet project deliverables/metrics for the upfitting products and specialty vehicle group.
- Inputs into product category budget planning
- Directing the development, planning and execution of manufacturing methods. Maintaining the efficiency, quality and safety of manufacturing processes; being accountable for new or old technology, and new or existing products.
- Work in conjunction with tooling, equipment and manufacturing engineers to develop and execute an achievable manufacturing build plan.
- Develop testing plans to ensure product design meets all government and internal safety and quality standards
- When developing new products, use the product development process to ensure all aspects of the project are considered
- Seek out, research, develop cost analysis, and justification for new methods, procedures, equipment, and materials
**Qualifications**:
- Engineering degree in Mechanical or equivalent education and experience
- MUST have over 5 years experience in commercial vehicle upfitting industry in functions of design engineering, fabrication, installation, and sales & marketing, being Upfitting Product Manager or similar
- MUST have extensive experience in upfitting hardware fabrication equipment & processes, and workstation design with significant “hands on “expertise
- MUST have in-depth working knowledge in designing the hardware product lines for the commercial vehicle upfitting, new and sustaining product development design and ideally with electric commercial specialty vehicles industry background
- MUST have minimum 2 years of practical experience in Solidworks and AutoCAD
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, project management, and process improvement skills.
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes, machine shop equipment, materials, tooling, pneumatics, hydraulics, arc welding
- Five to seven years of new and sustaining product development design and independent project
- Experience with metal and plastic materials, structural analysis, fabrication and joining for high and low volume production
