The adMare Academy has trained more than 260 alumni - 95% of whom are employed in the Canadian life sciences industry. **Job Summary**: Reporting to the Director, Biology, the Lab Assistant is responsible for providing core lab support for adMare’s R&D team in Vancouver. Safety is a key component of this role; the Lab Assistant is required to comply with all internal and external safety programs ensuring they themselves work safely and maintain a safe work environment for all. This is an onsite position working from our adMare BioInnovations Vancouver location, standard Monday - Friday PST hours. **Responsibilities**: - Manage inventories of chemicals and consumables; - Manage sample repository; - Manage waste (chemical, biological) according to safety guidelines; - Removal of hazardous waste from labs, - Decontamination or treatment of waste, - Packaging and labelling of waste for pick up. - Submit consumables requests to purchasing team; - Restocking of solvents, consumables for point-of-use in labs; - Receive and ship consumables, biological materials, and dangerous goods; - Manage gas and liquid cryogens cylinders, including refilling liquid nitrogen dewars; - Clean and prepare glassware for multiple users; - Prepare and deliver solutions to labs as required; - Manage lab coat and linens stock; - In collaboration with other building users, manage and keep the receiving dock tidy; - Key contact for day-to-day needs of Resident & Accelerator Companies - Other duties as assigned. **Qualifications and Experience**: - A diploma in life sciences or related discipline and at least 1 year of previous work experience in laboratories. - Working knowledge of applicable Health and Safety Regulations. - Must be able to work independently and safely. - Possess or successfully complete certification in lab safety and dangerous goods. - Able to do manual lifting (25 Kg) and handling of heavy loads (>100 Kg) with appropriate tools - Advanced user of MS Office and very strong attention to details. - Engaging and responsive personality. - Basic knowledge of French is an asset.
