**What’s the Role?**As the Coordinator of Programs - BVI you will be providing supportive leadership as it relates to the coordination, development, and implementation of programs and services for learners, families, and school teams across the Atlantic provinces.
Day-to-day, the Coordinator:
- Works with APSEA teams and educational and community partners to coordinate a variety of learning opportunities for children and youth with blindness and low vision.
- Provides supervision to employees within the department.
- Engages in professional learning and keeps abreast of current literature to remain knowledgeable concerning emerging trends, innovations, programs, and materials in the field.
- Supports processes to create a safe, equitable, positive, and supportive learning environment in which diversities are valued.
- Contributes to the maximum budget operating efficiency of APSEA programs through the effective management of financial resources. Prepares and submits reports and statistical information as required.

We are looking for someone who:
- Has a **Masters Degree in Education of students who are blind or visually impaired**, or equivalent.
- Has a Masters Degree in Educational Administration/Leadership or equivalent education and experience.
- Has **five (5) years of experience** in programming and service delivery for students who are BVI.
- Has a minimum of (5) years of experience in administration and/or leadership/supervisory capacity, within education.
- Has a **valid Nova Scotia Teacher’s Certificate**.
- Is driven to work collaboratively with APSEA colleagues, educational team members, and other agencies and educational partners. Productively leads multiple priorities.
- Has excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Deals openly, honestly and transparently in pursuit of departmental and organizational goals.
- Brings experience in the hiring and managing of employees.
- Demonstrates ability in the management of fiscal resources within budget.
- Is highly organized and detail oriented, with strong decision-making capacity in a fast-paced environment.
- Is a forward focused individual who proactively seeks new knowledge and skills, who looks for opportunities to improve the organization and experience of team members.
- Has the ability to mentor and coach employees in the development, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of appropriate programming for learners with diverse needs.
- Works independently with limited supervision, is self-directed, and demonstrates initiative.
- Brings excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- Demonstrates ethical decision making, with a commitment to privacy.
- Is comfortable working in a virtual learning environment.
- Keeps a flexible work schedule to accommodate program implementation outside of typical school hours. Provision of leadership may be required outside of the school year.
- **Is ok with occasional travel**, which may be required within the Atlantic Provinces. Access to a reliable mode of transportation is required.
