**Opportunity**:
MacEwan University is seeking a Men’s Basketball Head Coach for a renewable full-time 36-month term opportunity with our Athletics department. Reporting to the Director, you will be accountable for the direction of day-to-day activities and program development for the MacEwan University Griffins Men's Basketball program, while working in compliance with MacEwan University, Canada West, and U SPORTS policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a competitive high-performance Men's Basketball program that enhances the strategic vision of the university and of the community, managing day-to-day activities;
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring recruitment strategies to attract top student-athletes to the university;
- Building season over season improvement, in pursuit of a playoff position;
- Managing administrative and fiscal responsibilities of the program;
- Managing all aspects related to Canada West and U SPORTS rules and regulations;
- Monitoring athlete eligibility and academic standing; and
- Remaining engaged in the sport community.
**SKILLS**:
You will have:
- Knowledge of training techniques and new developments in sport coaching;
- Excellent managerial and leadership skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
- Organizational skills;
- The ability to mentor student-athletes and foster teamwork; and
- Strong sportsmanship and integrity.
**QUALIFICATIONS**:
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of coaching experience with elite athletes.
- Experience in building a successful high-performance program.
- Certified in Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED.
- Certified in NCCP Level 2 or an equivalent certification.
- Certification in NCCP Level 3 or the ability to attain the certification is considered an asset.
- Experience with fund development is considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
**POSITION REQUIREMENTS**:
- The ability to work frequent evenings and weekends.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
