Durose Manufacturing Ltd, A leader and progressive manufacturer of fabricated Steel products, is seeking a Steel Fabrication Detailer, with experience in a steel fabricating/welding and machining environment for their facility in Guelph. This role does not entail any design/development tasks.
- Manufacturing drawings/shop drawings to a quality level to comply with customer specifications and approval.
- Checking of drawings etc. to maintain accuracy, engineering standards and drafting conventions
- Complete documentation packages and produce drawing sets for production to meet changing needs and requirements, including revisions and document control management
- Creating fixtures, jigs and templates to suit light to heavy plate steel assemblies.
- Process routing structuring/bill of material creation in our ERP system
- Modeling of customer drawings to obtain component development using Solidworks 3D and Draftsight, flat plate development.
- Create & file detailed 2D and 3D drawings using CAD software (Draftsight, Solidworks) from customer sketches, conceptual drawings or existing similar drawings

- Secondary Education - Manufacturing Engineering Technician/Technologist or Mechanical Engineering Technician/Technologist or equivalent
- Structural steel detailing a must.
- Manufacturing knowledge regarding sheet metal and plate fabrication and a general understanding of welding concepts is required
- A minimum requirement of three years’ experience in an Draftsight/Solidworks role within a steel fabricating/welding and machining environment
- Familiar with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
- Knowledge of sheet metal nesting software and laser and plasma cutting
- Experience in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with full ERP system terminology and functionality.
- Technical liaison with customer engineering, vendors, internal Production, Quality, Sales, Purchasing, Estimating and Account Managers.
- Initial engineering liaison involvement in the manufacturing “start up” of a new product.
- Plan and prioritize engineering projects as required.
- Practise safe work procedures and follow all health & safety regulations
