**ABOUT THE ORGANISATION** Tropicana Community Services, a Toronto-based multiservice organization, provides all youth, newcomers, people of Black and Caribbean heritage and others in need with opportunities and alternatives that lead to success and positive life choices. **ABOUT THE POSITION** Reporting to the Senior Manager of Employment Programs, the Project Officer will support the organization by managing the daily operations throughout the project life cycle of the ECE Diploma - Tropicana Black Fast-Track Stream, PARRY Project, United Way projects and other projects.
**What you will do**:
**_ Planning & Program Development:_**
- Assist with developing the internal plans to facilitate the effective implementation and efficient operation of projects in accordance with the department’s and funders’ goals and objectives.
- Assist with the execution of all elements of the ECE Diploma - Tropicana Black Fast-Track Stream, PARRY Project, United Way projects and other projects and programs as assigned
- Assist the project activities and develop a solid understanding of policies as they relate to contracts, financial management and procurement
- Act as central point of contact to coordinate and provide proactive and ongoing support for projects
**_Program Administration:_**
- Coordinate all components of the program; assist to create screening tools and administrative forms
- Screen potential applicants in collaboration with advisory committee and TEC team
- Supervise daily operations and ensure smooth delivery and coordination of project/program activities
- Liaise and work collaboratively with other project and program team at Centennial College and other organizations to ensure an integrated service delivery and collegial relations amongst teams
**_ Financial Management:_**
- Coordinate the administrative and financial information of projects, including the financial reports, preparation of briefing and approval memos to Executives
- Enter agreement and budget information into tracking system in order to set up fund accounts or process amendments
- Assist in developing and monitoring budget proposals and maintain effective record-keeping and statistics
**_ Human Resources Management:_**
- Develop and maintain written program procedures and activities for use by staff and volunteers
- Foster effective and efficient teamwork and communication systems; ensure staff are familiar with and follow Tropicana’s program guide
- Plan and conduct regular monthly team meetings
**What you need for this role**:
- Minimum College diploma in Business Administration/Management or a related field
- 3 - 5 years’ experience in an administrative role, outreaching with community partners and clients
- Project management training or demonstrated skill and/or experience is highly desirable
- Ability to prioritize and handle a high volume of diverse projects with hard deadlines, simultaneously
- Demonstrated knowledge of, experience with and commitment to dealing with the issues faced by the Black community in Canada
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills, and demonstrated ability to take initiative and solve problems
