The department of Public Service Delivery is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Grounds Maintenance at Headingley Correctional Centre.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must provide and maintain a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Enhanced Security Screening
- Must have a valid Class 5 Drivers Licence and be capable of traveling within the District
- Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including heavy lifting, pushing and pulling, crouching, climbing and must be able to work around dust and chemicals, in extreme weather conditions and noise levels
Must be able to work overtime as required

Qualifications:
**Essential**:

- Experience in the operation of equipment including grass mowers,skid steer, gardening, snow removal and other related tools and machinery, a combination of experience and training may be considered.
- Experience in snow and ice removal from roads, parking lots, sidewalks, roofs, building entrances and other areas as required.
- Experience supervising staff, including assigning and reviewing work of subordinates, providing coaching and leadership.
- Knowledge of the Workplace Safety & Health Act, related regulations and federal legislation, safe work practices.
- Interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to work independently and establish priorities.
- Verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, clients and the general public.

**Desired**:

- Experience conducting routine maintenance on equipment including oil changes, spark plugs, fluid levels and tire pressure.

**Duties**:
Reporting to the Facility Manager, the grounds maintenance is responsible for the maintenance of the grounds including lawns, trees, roadways, parking lots and sidewalks at Headingley Correctional Centre to ensure client and public safety as well the appearance of the site.
