Production Manager

The **Production Manager** will be responsible for a cross-functional team within Production department. This role will be accountable for ensuring lines are always running effectively and optimally within their area with a trained team in place. Oversee the order fulfillment activities at the facility while maintaining efficient production.
- **Responsibilities**_
**Leadership**
- Develop employees through training and coaching, providing clear roles and consistent support and feedback for all employees with a focus on employee retention.
- Works with the People & Culture department to leverage various performance management tools to improve performance or identify individuals that should be transitioned out
- Management of direct reports including - hiring, performance management (counselling conversations), and holding employees accountable for violating corporate policies
- Hold discipline meetings with staff members including people and culture
- Foster and maintain positive union and employee relations environment by treating all employees with respect, providing timely feedback and grievance resolution.
Develop and drive a strong safety culture (OH&S and Food Safety Quality Assurance.)
- Be a leader in changing the company’s culture to culture of Rossdown PRO’s
- Collaborate with People and Culture to create training program for employees and supervisors
- Provide guidance and support to the supervisors on minimizing rework, production downgrade and give aways downtime and waste of resources, product and packaging materials
- Facilitate constructive discussion in case of Metrics discrepancies and/or improvement discussions.
- Conduct regular - daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly Metrics reviews with the supervisors.
- Continuously seek ways to improve manufacturing operational results and efficiencies while meeting customer expectations and minimize waste.
**Operations**
- Demonstrate full commitment to Food Safety and Quality standards, which facilitates continual improvement of food safety and quality management.
- Hold employees accountable and drive performance through key metrics.
- Ensure the operational results are met with the plant
- Ensure optimum labor utilization by workforce planning
- Ensure compliance with CFIA, OH&S and other legislative bodies that impact plant performance.
- Ensure productivity and yield record keeping is being measured and recorded
- Analyze production and quality control to detect problems and perform root cause analysis
- Review and suggest changes the employees schedule as needed
- Review and adjust live schedule as needed, collaborating with Farms on the incoming bird’s schedule.
- Demonstrate strong knowledge of animal welfare, Food safety, GMP regulations and internal and external audit requirements.
- Ensure production inventory inaccuracies are corrected
- Production planner/planning process
- Ensure Cost Control & Efficiency in all areas, work with Continuous Improvement team on process improvement projects.
- Support Marketing and Sales with respect to new and existing product development initiatives and customer inquiries.
- Develop a cohesive, competent Supervisory group and plan for development and succession planning.
- Ensure training program is implemented and effective.
**Planning**
- Collaborates to establish reasonable frozen inventory level forecasts to meet customer demands and provides direction to production to meet these demands.
- Establishes a daily production plan, considering customer demands and the availability of live product and WIP within the system.
- Analyzes production specifications and plant capacity data, performing mathematical calculations to determine manufacturing processes, raw materials, tools, and labor requirements within the CSB system.
- Publishes daily production plans to the floor and works with the production team to address any changes.
- Publishes daily short/long lists to the sales team.
- Coordinates special production requests between R&D, Procurement, Sales, and Production.
- Monitors inventory to ensure adherence to customer contract commitments and works with Sales to sell off obsolete private label stock before contract termination.
- Monitors WIP daily to ensure accuracy in planning.
- Communicates with Sales and Shipping about expected product shortages.
- Monitors fresh excess push lists and works with Sales to move the product out.
- Generates accurate and timely production reports for Leadership.
- Assists the Procurement Manager in maintaining and ordering inventory.
- Generates purchase orders or sales orders when required.
- Trains inventory staff as needed.
- Performs other tasks as assigned.
**KPIs**:
- Maintain, improve, and expand KPI- Red Zone reporting.
- Improve labour efficiency and achieve optimal yields
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $90,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
