Description

The Financial Reporting and Lender Relations team is looking for a student to work closely with the team for the Winter period. The Student will be part of a collaborative team of accounting professionals working closely together in the preparation of financial information for Canadian and US Government Reporting. The Student will also participate in the preparation of various surveys and work directly with a contact at STATS Canada to consolidate requests for multiple assets in to simplified filings.

**Responsibilities**
- Prepare quarterly and annual surveys for STATS Canada that include statement of financial position, net income and comprehensive income, capital expenditures, legal structures, business conditions, etc
- Prepare annual surveys for the US Census Bureau that include Business Surveys, Report of Organization, Capital Expenditures;
- Prepare quarterly and annual surveys for the Bureau of Economic Analysis that include reporting transactions with foreign affiliates, legal structures, and other financial information;
- Understand existing processes and propose improvements;
- Develop a relationship and interact with our STATS Canada account representative to reduce the number of multiple survey requests we receive and consolidate in less onerous filings;
- Roll forward existing workbooks and learn how to use our consolidation software to generate financial figures;
- If interested, providing support to the team on various other ongoing initiatives,

**Requirements**:

- Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary program;
- Completed first year university studies in Commerce/Business Administration (preferably 3rd or 4th year with a concentration in Accounting).

**Qualifications**
- Financial/Accounting knowledge and preferably some familiarity in IFRS;
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel;
- Ability to “think outside the box”, to work in a dynamic, complex, fast paced environment, to adapt quickly and to manage changing priorities;
- Ability to work independently, solve problems and use sound judgment;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
- Knowledge of consolidation systems such as Cognos Controller and OneStream is considered an asset;
- Interest in pursuing a professional accounting designation is considered an asset.
