**The Opportunity**

Reporting to the Facility Cleaning Supervisor/Manager, Facility Cleaner volunteers play an essential role in ensuring that our YMCA members and participants enjoy a comfortable, clean, and positive experience while utilizing our facilities and participating in programming. In this position, you will need to collaborate with all YMCA staff, volunteers, and members in order to execute cleaning tasks.

**Responsibilities**
- Help YMCA staff ensure facility cleanliness standards are met and maintained.
- Maintain a tidy and safe environment throughout the facility, including health and fitness areas, child and youth areas, the aquatics centre, changerooms, washrooms, our lobby/great hall, and the entrances to the building.
- Assist in the overall cleaning and sanitation of the facility, including garbage removal, dusting, sweeping, mopping floors, cleaning toilets, removing fingerprints from windows, vacuuming, disinfecting facility areas and replenishing supplies around the facility.
- Ensure proper availability of supplies, including paper towel, hand sanitizer, soap, etc.
- Foster a positive, comfortable environment in dealings with staff, volunteers, members, participants, and visitors to the facility.
- Interact with internal and external contacts in a friendly and welcoming manner.
- Promote other YMCA programs, services, and certifications during class(es) to help members engage in multiple forms of physical activity, community building, and begin their YMCA journey.
- Report any known or predicted safety hazards.
- Occasionally perform laundry related duties, including collection of towels, loading and unloading of laundry machines, folding towels, and replenishing towels in the Plus membership changerooms.
- Assist the staff with documenting any incidents or accidents, no matter how minor, and communicate to the Cleaning Supervisor/Manager on the same day.

**Qualifications & Skills**
- Strong work ethic and desire for cleanliness and tidiness.
- Dedication to safety and quality.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (multiple languages an asset).
- Ability to lift moderate-to-heavy equipment (up to 50lbs) an asset.
- Valid Intermediate Workplace First Aid and CPR are an asset.
- Background in cleaning support an asset.
