**HIRING SALARY RANGE**:$67,530.00 - $75,971.00 per annum
**MAXIMUM OF SALARY RANGE**:$84,412.00 per annum

**AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY**:
With the goal of supporting employee well-being and regular attendance, the Return to Work (RTW) Coordinator facilitates and coordinates the safe and timely return of employees to work following injury, illness or disability. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Transit Operations, they work closely with employees, management, unions, Human Resources and external stakeholders to develop and implement individualized return to work plans that comply with applicable laws, policies and collective agreements, ensuring mínimal disruption to transit operations.
**OPERATION SUPPORT**:
**Return to Work Program Management**
- Coordinate individualized return to work plans for employees in Transit Operations.
- Assess job-specific tasks (e.g., driving, equipment maintenance) to match employee capabilities.
**Assessment & Accommodations**
- Review return to work documentation and assess restrictions relevant to Transit roles.
- Assist in recommending temporary or modified duties, including light-duty roles, where feasible.
- Support supervisors and Human Resources on permanent accommodations.
- Conduct job site assessments to ensure accommodations align with workplace safety and operational efficiency.
**TEAMWORK AND CO-OPERATION**:
- Partner with Transit supervisors, union representatives, Human Resources representatives to determine appropriate accommodations.
- Communicate with Human Resources, safety officers, and legal teams to align plans with policies and regulations. Assist in special projects as required.
- Work well within diverse groups to support operational goals and objectives.
- Demonstrate corporate values at all times.
- Participate as a member of cross-functional team.
- Provide support/backup as necessary including but not limited to, attendance management and Health, Safety and Wellness.
**OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE AND INTEGRITY**:

- Ensure return to work plans comply with transit-specific regulations.
- Maintain confidential and accurate records of cases, employee progress, and accommodations.
**CUSTOMER SERVICE**:
**Employee Support**
- Provide guidance and support to employees navigating the return to work process.
- Support communication between employees and management to address concerns or barriers.
**TRAINING**:
- Guide managers, supervisors, and frontline staff on return to work policies and procedures.
- Educate teams on the importance of early and safe return to work practices.
**COMMUNICATION AND REPORTING**:
- Monitor return to work program outcomes, including success rates and challenges.
- Work with Human Resources to prepare reports and recommendations to improve program efficiency and employee satisfaction.
**SELECTION CRITERIA**:
**EDUCATION**:
- Post-secondary education in a related field (Human Resources) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**EXPERIENCE**:
- 1-2 years of related experience in HR, attendance or disability management.
- Experience within public transit or a unionized environment is an asset.
**OTHER SKILLS AND ASSETS**:
- Knowledge of return to work theory and its practices and principles; Human Rights (Duty to Accommodate); and employment and labour relations legislation
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with employees, union representatives and management in a professional and tactful manner.
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in the use of spreadsheets, databases and word processing.
- Excellent data analysis ability and familiarity with computerized absence tracking and reporting methods.
- Self-motivated and self-directed with strong initiative and the ability to work independently as well as an effective team member.
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must possess a valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s license in good standing, with a reliable vehicle. Travel to a variety of Transit sites within the City is required.
