**Position Summary**

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Compliance**: Stay current with federal payroll regulations and legislation, including the Canada Labour Code, Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Employment Insurance (EI), and other applicable federal benefits and deductions. Ensure full compliance with federally regulated labor laws, including rules around overtime, vacation, statutory holidays, and leave entitlements.
- **Rippling Software Management**: Utilize Rippling software for payroll data entry, reporting, benefits administration, overtime tracking, WCB reporting, RRSP management, and tax filings. Troubleshoot issues and ensure the system is properly configured and up-to-date.
- **Employee Deductions**: Ensure correct deductions are made for taxes, benefits, pension plans, garnishments, and other applicable withholdings, while ensuring overtime payments are accurately tracked and processed.
- **Benefits and RRSP Management**: Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, vision, etc.) and RRSP contributions. Ensure accurate deductions, employer matching contributions, and benefits processing, and maintain accurate records.
- **WCB Management and Reporting**: Administer and manage Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) claims, ensuring all reporting and claims are filed accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain WCB-related records and ensure compliance with WCB regulations.
- **QBO Migration of Journal Entries**: Support the migration of payroll-related journal entries into QuickBooks Online (QBO) for accurate financial record-keeping. Ensure the accurate transfer of payroll data into the company’s accounting system.
- **Reporting**: Prepare and submit required government remittances such as payroll tax filings, T4s, T4As, and other reports as needed. Ensure that overtime payments are properly reflected in reports, as well as any necessary adjustments or corrections.
- **Employee Inquiries**: Address payroll-related inquiries from employees in a professional and timely manner. Provide clear explanations on payroll discrepancies, pay calculations, benefits, deductions, and overtime pay.
- **Work Agreements**: Review, draft, and manage employee work agreements, ensuring they comply with federal labor laws and accurately reflect terms related to wages, benefits, hours of work, overtime, and other employment conditions.
- **Year-End Reporting**: Ensure year-end payroll compliance, including preparation and filing of T4 slips and the annual reconciliation of payroll records, accounting for overtime, benefits, RRSP contributions, and WCB claims throughout the year.
- **Records Management**: Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files. Safeguard confidential information and ensure it is handled in compliance with privacy laws.
- **Cross-Department Collaboration**: Work closely with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure smooth operations and accurate data transfer.
- **Continuous Improvement**: Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, streamline systems, and enhance efficiency, especially around the tracking and management of overtime, WCB claims, benefits, and RRSPs.

**Qualifications**
- **Experience**:

- 5+ years of experience in payroll processing, with a strong understanding of Canadian payroll practices and federal labor laws (Canada Labour Code).
- Experience using Rippling software for payroll processing, reporting, benefits management, and WCB administration.
- **Knowledge of Canadian Payroll Laws**:

- In-depth knowledge of federally regulated payroll regulations under the Canada Labour Code, including overtime, vacation, statutory holidays, and leave entitlements.
- Strong understanding of Canadian taxation, CPP, EI, and other related deductions.
- **Overtime Expertise**: Detailed understanding of federally regulated overtime laws, including eligibility, calculation methods, and reporting requirements.

**Skills**:

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and payroll calculations, particularly with regard to overtime, benefits, RRSP contributions, and WCB claims.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees and management.
- Experience working with QuickBooks Online (QBO) and migrating payroll journal entries into accounting systems.
- **Education**:

- A post-secondary degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field is preferred.
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the Canadian Payroll Association (CPA) is preferred.
- **Other Requirements**:

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
