The Columbia Basin Alliance for Literacy (CBAL) is an innovative, multi-service, non-profit organization providing a broad range of child, youth, family, seniors, and immigrant programs and services related to literacy.

**Position Summary**

This part-time position involves delivering innovative, engaging family literacy programs in the Elk Valley including Come Read with Me and Parents as Literacy Supporters.

**Qualifications and Attributes**
- Experience working with young children and their caregivers
- Strong presentation and facilitation skills
- Excellent communication and record-keeping ability
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles of early and adult learning
- A passion for literacy and numeracy
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Ability to manage large numbers of participants
- Valid First Aid and FoodSafe certifications will be considered assets
- Valid BC Driver’s license and access to a vehicle

**Responsibilities**
- Plan and deliver literacy programs to young children and their caregivers
- Set up and take down program sites as needed - may need to move tables, chairs, and equipment
- Provide participants with resources and referrals to community services
- Attend professional development sessions, and staff meetings as required
- Ensure required participant documents are completed and submitted to coordinator
- Drive to various locations in the Elk Valley

**Hours & Wages**

This position is part-time and the hours will be varied. Hours are estimated to be 35 hrs during the fall and winter terms. Hours may work into more depending on availability, interest, and skill set. Mileage will be paid out at.70/kms. Starting wage is $23.50 per hour.
