Job Summary
The Research Assistant/Technician 4 supports varied and complex technical tasks requiring formal training, specialized knowledge and/or experience related to the conduct of clinical research and/or quality improvement activities.
Organizational Status
The incumbent leads key program projects to enhance and advance patient care and outcomes at the BC Children's Hospital Gender Clinic.
Work Performed
Under direction of the Principal Investigator (PI) and the Gender Clinic team, this position performs the following duties:
Designs, modifies and executes project requirements to conduct key program priorities.
Develops and writes novel protocols and standard operating procedures and makes recommendation on workflow improvements.
Troubleshoots issues that arise that could impact execution and delay of project deliverables and problem solves to ensure projects stay on budget and meet set time deadlines.
Conducts analysis and interpretation of project data.
Manages and oversees the daily operations of all projects and provides supervision, instruction and training to students, trainees, or other staff. Supervises, schedules and trains staff and may make recommendations with respect to hiring and providing input into staff performance.
Responsible for project budget, purchase recommendations, inventory, forecasting and maintenance of financial reports.
Oversees the progress of projects and participates in complex research activities.
Carries out any other related duties as required

Exercises a considerable amount of judgment, responsibility, and initiative in determining work procedures and methods, and coordinating the work of the unit.
Supervision Received
Works under minimum supervision, receiving specific instructions only on unusual problems or on matters which depart significantly from established policy and procedure.
Supervision Given
May have supervisory responsibilities for a small group of employees at lower classifications and may have input into staff selection and performance evaluation.
Minimum Qualifications
Completion of a university degree in a relevant discipline or technical program and a minimum four years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Some positions may require a graduate degree.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a clinical setting
Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills (orally and written) and the ability to interact positively and productively with other team members are essential.
Excellent documentation and organizational skills.
Able to multi-task, prioritize and handle multi-project assignments concurrently.
