- This position is responsible for managing the planning, design and implementation of international student services to facilitate international student engagement and retention as key components of the College’s strategy and planning. Reporting to the Director, International Education and with direct managerial supervision of assigned support staff, this role works with internal and external stakeholders to ensure that student services are aligned with international student needs at VCC. This position is also responsible for ensuring international students are seamlessly integrated into college systems and processes and receive the specialized services required by their particular circumstances. This includes developing immigration advising practices and processes for the College, and for providing immigration advice to international students in accordance with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) guidelines.. This position also manages the logístical and administrative aspects of all projects and initiatives related to international student services.**Job Duties/Responsibilities**
- 1. Assists the Director, International Education with strategic planning for international student services within the College to maximize international student engagement and facilitate effective retention services.
- 2. Collaborates with the International Education team, College faculty, student union, staff and administrators to establish and implement processes and programs to support the integration, engagement and retention of international students.
- 3. Administers and facilitates the design, planning, coordination and implementation of various support services, events, programs and workshops to facilitate the smooth integration of international students to Vancouver and VCC. This may include working with relevant departments to organize cultural events on campus to celebrate international students’ diversity and further engage the VCC community.
- 4. Develops and implements communication strategies and activities, including the creation of appropriate and relevant print materials and web communications, to inform, guide and support current international students.
- 5. Develops social media strategies to engage prospective and current international students.
- 6. Participates in the management structures of the institution including attending committee meetings and participating, as required, in the development of institutional policies, procedures and programs as they relate to international student services.
- 7. Coordinates international student orientation and information sessions to support the international student population on such issues as study permits, visas, work permits, income tax, health insurance, student safety, and cultural and academic adjustment. Provides advice and guidance to international education staff to determine the correct course of action when students encounter difficulties with the aforementioned issues.
- 8. Conducts immigration information workshops, visits classes, and meets with individual students to communicate international student responsibilities regarding complying with their immigration status.- 10. Advises key College stakeholders regarding external changes to immigration and policy that may affect the College’s international student population.
- 11. Liaises with appropriate International staff to provide IRCC with Designated Learning Institute compliance reports as mandated by government.
- 12. Supervises assigned staff and participates in the recruitment, promotion, evaluation, training and development, and performance management of staff within the scope defined by College policy and the Collective Agreements.
- 13. May represent the College at select professional associations, education and cultural organizations, at conferences dealing with international issues, and on provincial, national and international bodies associated with higher education.
- 14. Performs other related duties as required.**Qualifications**

**Education and Experience**
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study such as Social Sciences, Education or International Studies.
- Accreditation as a Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) and membership, in good standing, with Immigration Consultants of Canada Regulatory Council.
- Four (4) Years of recent related experience including experience in the management of international student programs and services.
- Experience with issues related to cultural integration and intercultural communication.
- Or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Extensive knowledge of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada policy, procedures and programming as they relate to international students.
- Knowledge of the cultural and academic transition process and demonstrated ability to support international students with adjustment
