**Position Summary**:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, The Manager, Quality Assurance is responsible for the implementation of and compliance to all Sofina, governmental and customer quality assurance, regulatory, and food safety programs. Areas of responsibility would include product and environmental test programs, regulatory compliance, HACCP and BRC system maintenance, pest control, sanitation, team development, and QA budget control.

**Key Accountabilities**:

- Ensure that the company’s HACCP system requirements are being met on a continuous basis through guidance, direction, follow up and leadership to the QA team.
- Develop, implement, maintain, and reassess the Quality Assurance programs required to operate a federally licensed establishment.
- Working with the Plant Operations, Product Management and Product Development Teams on new product launches to ensure new products meet specifications.
- Routine employee training on quality, regulatory, and food safety principles and policies.
- Ensures raw materials, manufacturing processes, plant environment and finished products meet established formulations and specifications.
- Provides leadership during CFIA, customer, or other regulatory agency audits of the manufacturing facilities.
- Implementation and maintenance of regular sanitation audits. Lead contact with outside pest control, sanitation contractors, and sanitation chemical supplier(s).
- Develop the department’s budget and provide input into the budgets for pest control and sanitation costs.
- In conjunction with the Plant Operations, implement quality enhancement processes and procedures at the plant level to achieve process improvements and cost savings.
- Investigate customer/consumer complaints in a thorough and timely manner; identify and resolve any reoccurring patterns of complaints.
- Identify food safety and quality trends and take corrective action as needed.

**Requirements**:

- Degree in Food Science or a related discipline and a minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in a Quality Assurance supervisory or management capacity is required.
- In-depth knowledge of HACCP, SFCA, GMPs, food microbiology, sanitation, and Federal food regulations.
- Strong understanding and experience with HACCP principles and government regulations regarding meat processing.
- Knowledge and experience with manufacturing practices relating to dry cured & cooked RTE deli meat products.
- Computer knowledge and ability to work with various programs (Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently or with mínimal guidance.
- Strong decision-making skills, and leadership.
- Excellent communication skills.
- The position demands a large amount of decision-making in which there is a high degree of interaction with other departments.

**Working Conditions**:
