Pipelayer - Underground Utilities (Edmonton)

Reporting to the Foreman, the Pipelayer is responsible for safely and accurately installing underground water, sewer, and storm systems. Working closely with the excavator operator, the Pipelayer directs trench digging activities and ensures trench depth, slope, and bedding meet required specifications. This role involves setting pipe to line and grade, aligning and joining sections, and preparing for safe and efficient backfilling.
**How You’ll Add Value**
- Actively contribute to the safety culture, promoting a safe and productive work environment
- Direct the excavator operator while checking trench depth and grade
- Set up, align, and install water, sanitary sewer, and storm drain pipes
- Ensure proper bedding before backfilling
- Safely expose and work around live utilities
- Use hand and power tools specific to underground utility work
- Assist with rigging and lowering of pipe, vaults, and structures into place
- Support general labour tasks as needed in the trenching and pipe installation process
**What You Bring**
- 3+ years of experience installing underground utilities (water, sewer, storm)
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with a Driver’s Abstract showing no more than 6 demerits and no major infractions
**Note: Pre-employment Drug and Alcohol Testing will be required.**
