**Who is Global Choice Canada?**
A new affiliate of AFS Interculture Canada, Global Choice Canada exists to deliver quality intercultural learning programs to international youth aged 15-18. Our mission is to provide intercultural learning opportunities to youth in order to build a more just and peaceful world. We do this through the delivery of high school-based exchange programs throughout English Canada for 3 to 10 month periods. Though we are a relatively young non-profit organization, we have enjoyed great success thus far and foresee a dynamic future filled with opportunities for growth.

You are an energetic people-person with a passion for the volunteer sector, running orientations and events, and intercultural learning. You have experience working with volunteers and are looking for the next big challenge that will fulfill your desire for a fresh project full of creativity and growth. You are self-motivated and driven to achieve your goals and can wholeheartedly contribute to the collaborative and supportive dynamic of a small team. **Responsibilities**:
- Volunteer Program_
With the support of the Program Director, you will lead the conception and implementation of a 1-3 year volunteer program development plan. To do so, you will:
- Map out a detailed roadmap to achieve short and long term goals consistent with our 3 year strategic plan
- Identify and pursue new leads for volunteer recruitment in strategic areas throughout the country.
- Develop collaborative relationships with external organizations and associations who have complimentary mandates
- Develop and implement volunteer retention and recognition strategies
- Identify, coordinate, and train volunteers for a variety of roles connected to our programs
- Support volunteers and their needs
- Fully utilize existing volunteer management tools and develop new ones
- Maintain an up to date volunteer database

- With the support of your supervisor, lead the development of a 1-2 year student orientation calendar.
- Lead all responsibilities connected with orientations, including logistics, budgeting, coordination, and facilitation.
- Delegate tasks to team members and volunteers during peak orientation periods
- Facilitate multiple orientations during peak periods
- Recruit, coordinate, and train volunteer facilitators

- Assist the Student Support Coordinator in providing support to students while on program
- Support team members with their tasks during busy periods
**You should have the following**:
- Outgoing and enthusiastic predisposition for facilitation and leading youth groups
- Leadership skills and good judgment
- Maturity and resourcefulness
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on big objectives with mínimal oversight
- Great motivation to design and implement a new program from the ground up
- Highly organized and confident with logistics and coordination
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to set priorities and differentiate between competing tasks
- Flexibility and ability to quickly adapt to new program needs
- Positive and can-do attitude as you will be an integral part of a small yet growing team
- Patience and humility when working with volunteers
- University or College Degree or commensurate work experience
- Minimum 2 years experience managing or coordinating volunteers
- Appreciation for youth aged 15-18
- Experience in intercultural settings, whether it be personal or professional
- Fluent in English (oral and written) for day-to-day operations; functional French skills as we are based in Montreal.
- Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Google Drive, Zoom)
- Valid Driver’s license and willingness to travel to orientation sites for 1-5 days a time several times a year. *required
- Knowledge of intercultural learning (ICL) an asset
**Working conditions**
- 35 hours per week
- 40,000$ - 50,000$ salary, according to experience
- Some evenings and weekend work will be required in order to run orientations throughout the country. Particularly busy periods include September, mid-January/early February, and mid May to early June. It is not uncommon to work every weekend during these periods, though that would ideally diminish over time as the volunteer base grows. Any additional hours above 35 hrs/week are tracked and encouraged to be used during the following week as time off as much as possible.
- Travel is an essential and non-negotiable part of the position, requiring domestic travel for 1-5 days at a time during the busy periods noted above.
