Caneda Transport is seeking a Dispatcher to join our team in Calgary, AB

The Dispatcher will report directly to the Team Leader and is responsible for the effective management and support of Company and Owner Operator Drivers. The Dispatcher is also expected to focus on operational excellence and superior customer service which will uphold the Company’s high standards of profitability, customer service and safely while retaining the respect and confidence of our customers and drivers. The Dispatcher must understand that the company operates in a changing environment, and that he or she must be responsive to change. As a result, new directives may be added or deleted from the list of responsibilities.

Responsibilities (not limited to):
▪ To promptly and courteously answer all telephone calls and electronic mail messages and obtain accurate information pertaining to the efficient handling of customer needs or customer business

▪ To maintain dispatch input in an orderly and accurate fashion with timely updates regarding equipment movement (Trucks and trailers) and freight pick up or deliveries

▪ To maintain a complete and timely accurate log of all inbound freight shipments and pallet movements

▪ To ensure round trip profitability of trucks by working and communicating with shipping/receiving terminals and/or Dispatchers

▪ To update equipment movements (arrivals and departures of trucks, trailers and trips) and status in Truckmate

▪ To monitor scheduled arrival and departures for service failures and communicate to all parties involved

▪ Entering required and accurate data into Truckmate

▪ To monitor driver performance and report any deficiencies to Management for disciplinary action

▪ To monitor daily logs and hours of work of drivers to ensure compliance

▪ To promote positive driver attitude

▪ Responsible for booking transactional freight for assigned trucks

Qualifications:
▪ Able to communicate clearly and effectively

▪ Knowledge of Truckmate is considered an asset

▪ Ability to handle a fast-paced environment

▪ Industry experience is an asset, but not required

▪ 3 to 5 years of dispatch experience
