**Accountability**:
The Team Leader of Laundry is responsible to report directly to the CSD Associate Director, Operations
**Job Summary**:
As a Team Leader in the laundry department, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the laundry team and ensuring efficient and effective laundry services over 3 different locations within Sioux Lookout. Your role will involve supervising and supporting the laundry staff, maintaining quality standards. You will work collaboratively with other departments to meet the laundry needs of the organization.
**Qualifications**:
- Persons of First Nations ancestry will be given preference (OHRC, Part II, Special Employment).
- The ability to perform the requirements of the position on a regular basis.
- Ability to communicate in one of the First Nations dialects in the Sioux Lookout Zone is an asset.
- High school diploma completion.
- Minimum of 1 years’ experience in Laundry, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Must be available for all rotational shifts of the position, Shifts include early morning, days, evenings and Stand-By/Call-Back.
- Leadership and interpersonal skills to supervise and motivate a team of laundry aides.
- Strong knowledge of laundry techniques, equipment operation, and use of cleaning agents.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Ability to handle and resolve conflicts or issues that may arise within the team or with clients.
- Good communication skills to interact with team members, clients, and other departments.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality service.
- Physical fitness and ability to perform laundry duties, including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety guidelines and standards
- Collaborate with the training department to provide ongoing training and development opportunities.
- Must be certified with Basic First Aid/CPR/AED, or able to obtain.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
**Roles and Responsibilities**:
- Supervise and manage a team of laundry staff, including assigning tasks, providing guidance, and monitoring performance.
- Ensure that all linens, garments, and other laundry items are processed, cleaned, and maintained to the highest quality standards.
- Develop and implement laundry procedures, including sorting, washing, drying, folding, and storage, to maximize efficiency and minimize damage or loss.
- Train and orientate new laundry team members, providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform their duties effectively.
- Monitor and maintain inventory levels of laundry supplies, such as detergents, fabric softeners, and cleaning agents.
- Conduct regular inspections of laundered items to ensure quality control, identify maintenance needs, and address any issues promptly.
- Collaborate with housekeeping to ensure timely delivery of clean linens and garments as per their requirements.
- Enforce safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment for the laundry team and clients. Report workplace injuries and complete WSIB documentation, ensure department follows all Health and safety legislation and internal policies and procedures.
- Handle and resolve client complaints or concerns related to laundry services.
- Maintain an accurate and efficient scheduling system that covers various shifts and locations within the organization for the Department.
- To be flexible in the job routine and be adaptable to new requests and ongoing challenges of the job.
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment that promotes productivity and high-quality work.
- Assist in the hire of Laundry Aides, complete and conduct performance appraisals, disciplinary meetings and complete all Human Resources documentation as required.
- Available to fill in for the departmental staff when necessary.
- Oversee and monitor quality improvement projects and audits resulting from recommendations of reviews and/or consultations from past, present and future.
- Any other duties as assigned as assigned by your supervisor and management team.
