The Fractional Manager, Technology and Innovation will champion Al-Terra’s strategic integration of technology, data, and AI-driven solutions to enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, and future readiness. This role is both hands-on and strategic, responsible for identifying opportunities, piloting solutions, and working cross-functionally to embed new capabilities into core business processes and client services.
The Manager will also serve as a thought partner in aligning emerging technologies with Al-Terra’s values, ethics, and long-term competitive positioning.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Lead the development and implementation of Al-Terra’s technology roadmap aligned with corporate strategy and Leadership priorities.
- Act as a key liaison between operational teams, IT providers, and the Management team to assess technology needs and capabilities.
- Promote a culture of innovation by identifying opportunities for digital transformation across business units.

Innovation and Solutions Development
- Evaluate, test, and implement emerging technologies (e.g., AI, automation, technical software integration, Civil 3D workflows) that improve project delivery or client experience.
- Develop internal prototypes or pilot programs in collaboration with engineering and project teams.

People Development
- Directly supervise technical staff assigned to the business line, fostering a high-performing and engaged team.
- Provide regular feedback and support development planning in collaboration with other managers.
- Mentor emerging leaders and technical staff, supporting succession readiness across the organization.

Systems and Data
- Support the adoption and optimization of enterprise systems (e.g., project management, QA/QC tracking, proposal systems).
- Collaborate with Al-Terra’s IT service provider and internal system stakeholders to define data architecture, governance, and integration best practices.
- Establish lightweight tools and analytics that enhance decision-making and KPI tracking.

Change Enablement and Culture
- Partner with managers to promote digital literacy and build technology-related competencies across the organization.
- Guide business units in technology adoption and support change management practices aligned with Al-Terra values.
- Champion safe, ethical, and privacy-conscious AI and data practices.

Position Scope
This position functions cross-organizationally and does not have direct reports. However, the Manager, Technology and Innovation is empowered to lead enterprise initiatives and task-specific working groups. The role will interface regularly with managers and technical teams.

Working Relationships
- Internal: Collaborates with managers, project teams, and Corporate Services.
- External: Works with IT vendors, technical consultants, software providers, and potential innovation partners.
