The Planning Liaison Coordinator in Service Excellence leads a team representing the Planning & Development Services through Planning Liaison Program (PLP) to build and sustain community relationships by creating meaningful connections and sharing planning information to foster trust and collaboration. Primary duties include:
- Provide leadership, supervision, coaching, mentoring, direction, training and support a team of Planning Liaisons.
- Facilitate the resolution of complex issues by collaborating across internal teams and external key partner groups, ensuring alignment, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective and consistent solutions.
- Develop and sustain strategic working relationships with Council, community associations, and internal & external partners to facilitate corporate partnerships and excellence in service delivery.
- Ensure the PLP initiatives are aligned with Council priorities and department objectives. Identify opportunities for joint initiatives and partnerships that enhance the program's impact.
- Identify planning opportunities, issues and risks within the communities and relay information to Planning staff.
- Address queries related to planning and development-related questions and direct community members to the appropriate City resources.
- Manage the general operations and support the Planner Liaison team through change management efforts, workload leveling, customer conflict resolution, performance management and professional development.
- Report to senior management/leadership and provide support at Committee and Council. Lead, manage and develop a team with a culture that promotes equity, diversity, inclusion and belonging, and promotes a psychologically and physically safe environment.
- Schedule periodic meetings with Planning Liaisons, Neighbourhood Partnership Coordinators, and Business Relations Strategists across the Corporation to coordinate best practices and provide a consistent service approach.
- Attend evening/weekend community associations meetings when necessary.

**Qualifications**
- A degree in Urban Planning or a related discipline that is recognized by the Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) or another provincial or territorial institute or association representing the Planning profession in Canada or related discipline.
- At least 8 years of progressively more senior and diverse work experience that includes supervision, community planning, urban development, or a related area.
- Eligibility for membership in Alberta Professional Planners Institute (APPI) is required.
- A valid Class 5 Driver¿s License (or provincial equivalent) and access to a personal vehicle for business use is required
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the proven capacity to guide and mentor teams and partners through complex challenges with ambiguous conditions, achieving desired outcomes.
- Exceptional relationship-building and rapport-building skills, with a proven track record of understanding and bridging complex needs to achieve objectives.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication, interpersonal, public engagement, group facilitation, and organizational skills are essential for excelling in this role.
- Highly developed reasoning and problem-solving skills are crucial.
- Strong political and business acumen, along with the ability to consult with staff at all levels of internal and external organizations, are vital for this role.
