Under the supervision of the Supervisor, Shop Services, this position is responsible for carpentry and related tasks expected of a journeyperson carpenter. Must possess a strong commitment to personal and job safety.

**What You Get to Do**:

- Construct or make alterations to Company structures as specified by plans or drawings.
- Construct various items such as tool boxes, counters, cabinets, and shelves.
- Construct and maintain Company equipment such as cabooses, truck and trailer decks, and special boxes on trucks.
- Construct shoring that meeting or exceeds company and government standards.
- Repair and maintain Company property such as buildings, fences, and walks.
- Repair properties damaged by construction crews.
- Perform related work such as masonary, roofing, sheet metal work, concrete placement, and painting as required.
- Responsible for selecting good quality supplies and materials such as lumber, plywood and arborite.
- Drive a Company vehicle as required.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- Grade 12 or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
- Must possess a Journeyperson Carpenters Certificate from a recognized Apprenticeship Program.
- Mature judgement, initiative and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment would be considered assets.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, a Class 5 Drivers License and an in-house operator’s certificate.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, all appropriate company required certificates and complete related courses as required.
- Must possess, or be able to obtain, a thorough knowledge and understanding of appropriate company, environment, health and safety policies, procedures and related regulations.
- Must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills, learning ability, organizational skills, technical aptitude, initiative, mature judgement, responsible work habits.
- Must maintain good internal and external relations.
- Must be familiar with various codes governing the trade as well as remain up to date on changes in industry standards, procedures, and technology.
- Ability to interpret plans and structural drawings.
- Normal good health to perform the duties that may be expected of a Carpenter.
- This position is a Safety-Sensitive position and has additional pre-employment requirements as identified in the Alcohol & Drug Policy 6.2.3 Applicant Testing.
