**1. Essential Duties & Responsibilities**
- Plans, prepares, and serves attractive and nutritionally balanced meals for the children, promoting and reinforcing good nutritional habits; trying new foods, portion control and balanced diet.
- Prepare grocery list weekly or bi-weekly as needed.
- Purchase all groceries in order to implement the planned menus in consultation with the center supervisor
- Unpacking and checking of orders
- Plan a 4-week menu rotation ensuring adequate variety, adherence to allergy/diet restrictions of children and ensuring that all preparation is peanut/nut free/sesame/pork/egg
- Maintain a thoroughly clean and disinfected kitchen, inside and out, including but not limited to the following: cupboards, food containers, counters, fridge, freezer, stove, dishwasher, microwave, and floors.
- Regular inventory of kitchen equipment and supplies

Supervise and ensure the well being of children during rest periods, providing a safe and nurturing environment.

Guide and assist children in developing self help skills, including proper eating habits, dressing and independent use of the washroom.

Oversee Toddler and preschool classes during meal times, encouraging healthy eating practices and ensuring a positive and safe lunch experience. Maintain a clean and organized space by cleaning tables and light housekeeping tasks such as sweeping and mopping after meal times ensuring a tidy and hygienic space for children

**2. Program Support**
- Assist in the child care programs as required by the supervisor in order to enhance or maintain child-staff ratios
- Engages and works collaboratively as a team member in caring for the children and overall operation of the program; maintains regular and open communication with peers and all other co-workers

**Educational Requirements**
- Valid Food Handler Safety Certificate
- Valid Driver’s License & Reliable vehicle
- Current First Aid & CPR Level C
- Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check to be completed every 5 years, to sign a declaration form annually.

**Qualifications**
- Experience as a cook in a child care setting (a minimum of 2 years)
- Familiarity with planning and implementing menus set out by the Canada Food Guide, Public Health Guidelines and Toronto Operating Criteria

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
