**Additional Details**:
The City of New Westminster Parks and Recreation Department is looking for a qualified and experienced watercolour instructor to lead and provide high-level instruction adult programs. This position requires a background in both art and instruction, with experience in watercolour painting techniques, materials and traditional practices. Applicants should be familiar with course curriculum that builds skills throughout a series of classes. Applicants with current artistic practices (producing and/or exhibiting) are encouraged to apply. Expertise in other adult art programs including drawing would be considered an asset.
Requirements include:
- Availability to teach on Mondays from 5:30-8:00 pm, January 13 - March 10. Additional hours and different program time options may be available for future sessions.
- Educational background in visual arts either through continued professional development or through completion of accredited programs.
- Considerable knowledge of the principles, practices and objectives of contemporary art education and sound previous instructing experience within a recreational and/or cultural studio setting.
- Kind and approachable demeanor.
- Sound knowledge of non-formal teaching methods and group leadership techniques.
- Excellent classroom management and organizational skills.
- Ability to create and provide supply lists and develop curriculum.
- Excellent time management and responsiveness.
- Must be able to successfully pass and maintain a satisfactory Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
