Community Support Worker

The Community Support Worker (CSW) position is the front-line position working with a team for persons with complex needs. The CSWs are part of a team that ensures the individual has a high quality of life in areas including daily living, recreation and leisure, and community inclusion.
You must be resilient, calm, have good boundaries, and dedicated to achieve success with this position.
**_In your role you will: _**
- Assisting with maintaining a good home environment for the person-served and staff
- Prepping food, Researching activities, cleaning
- Connect with and develop helping relationships with individuals with complex and challenging behaviours.
- Work effectively as a team with the individual and their support team to help achieve their goals
- Evaluating the needs of clients; Act as an advocate for individuals when needed
- Completion of daily documentation
- Provide support and assisting clients in the development of healthy life and social skills
- Participate in on-going program development
**_Education: _**
- College or University Diploma preferred, However relevant experience is valued and considered an asset (competency-based hire)
**_*Mandatory_** **_Training & Clearances to be provided before starting: _**
- Criminal record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (within the last 6 months)
- Intervention Record Check (within the last 6 months)
- Standard First Aid with CPR (min. Level C)
- *Strong English reading/writing/speaking skills are required
**_Preferred (primarily for day/evening staff): _**
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
- Driver’s Abstract (within the last 6 months)
- Auto Insurance & Registration

- Medical Administration (necessary before starting)
- Suicide Awareness or Suicide Intervention training
- Cultural Awareness training/Indigenous Training

**_Required Experience: _**
- We are looking for someone who is dedicated, patient, kind, trustworthy, mature, caring, and a good communicator and listener.
- Directly supporting individuals with disabilities, complex, and challenging behaviours
- Experience working in a residential and group home setting is an asset
**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $16.00-$20.00 per hour

We have a dedicated Crisis/Disaster Staff who monitors any and all updates, obtains and administers PPE for staff, we have strict Protocols in place to minimize exposure and contamination
