**Work Location**: Selkirk, Manitoba

**Position Summary**

We are looking to add Heavy Equipment Operators to the team to support projects in Selkirk, MB. The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for day-to-day duties on site needed to complete work in a safe and timely fashion and maintain a clean work site. This may include the moving and tracking of materials with various equipment including forklifts, loaders, scoop trams, rock trucks, excavators and hook truck. The Heavy Equipment Operator is also responsible to run the screening plant and is expected to take part in general housekeeping with some manual labour.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Safe and effective operation of heavy equipment, including forklifts, loaders, scoop trams, rock trucks, excavators, and hook trucks
- Perform preventative maintenance and daily operation checks on equipment
- Loading a diverse range of materials such as earth, rock, and demolition debris into heavy trucks or train cars
- Safely move materials from excavation sites to designated stockpiles, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
- Operate and service a variety of small equipment and tools
- Drive a crew truck to and from sites as required, ensuring timely and safe transport.
- Keep slip tanks always topped off and conduct thorough pre-operational checks on all equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and order on site—clean, lubricate, and fuel all equipment, and handle general site housekeeping.
- Ensure safety fences and markings are in place to protect everyone on site.
- Proactively notify supervisors and repair shops of any equipment issues or needed repairs.
- Effectively collaborate with crew and customers to ensure mutually agreeable outcomes and resolving conflicts
- Act independently with mínimal supervision
- Perform general labour tasks as required, including but not limited to digging, sweeping, monitoring, sampling, and spotting for trucks
- Safely work and travel in weather conditions
- Commit to working safely and following all safety protocols

**Physical Requirements**
- Must have the ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must have the ability to stand for extended periods of time.

**Work Environment**
- This position is located in Selkirk, Manitoba

**Qualifications**
- 3-5 years’ experience operating heavy construction equipment described above
- Class 3 License with Air Brake certification will be considered an asset
- Basic comprehension and ability to follow KBL’s Workplace Health and Safety requirements relevant to the assigned work site, including but not limited to KBL’s “Stop & Think Process” and KBL’s “Hazard Assessment Process”
- Ability to complete safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials
- Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions, challenging work site environments, and long demanding work days
- Ability to manage weather and/or seasonal interruptions in work schedule
- Must be Fit-for-Work each day
