Product Manager, Square Payroll
Company Description
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.
To solve this problem, we expanded into software and built integrated solutions to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
**Job Description**:
Square Staff represents a suite of labor management, payroll and communications tools that enable sellers and their teams to succeed together. Now more than ever, as the economy reopens and employers seek to rehire, they need to search for ways to support and provide value for their staff and for their business. At Square Payroll, we help employers pay their teams and file their taxes, so they can spend more time focused on running their business. Behind the scenes, we have a team of tax experts who help ensure taxes are filed and paid, accurately and timely.
We are looking for an experienced product manager who is as excited as we are about growing the impact of our tax product experience and bringing new offerings to market. As a Product Manager for Square Payroll, you will identify and solve the needs of small business owners and their hourly workers, some of the most underserved and overlooked participants in our economy today.
You will report to the Product Lead for Taxes and Compliance and lead our transition to thinking about payroll taxes as an experience and expanding our product suite to solve more seller needs related to taxes and compliance. You will collaborate with designers, engineers, analysts, marketing and other teams to move quickly towards delivering and scaling a remarkable product for small business owners. You will help us identify and deliver the initiatives, features, and products that can have the largest impact for our existing and potential customers.
You Will:
- Conduct extensive research to understand customer needs and current market solutions
- Use that research to craft a compelling product vision and strategy
- Plan, prioritize, and deliver projects against that vision and strategy
- Thoughtfully define and communicate project goals, requirements, and constraints
- Work with engineers and designers to continuously improve the service and product
- Collaborate cross-functionally with almost every other function in Square: Engineering, Design, Data Science, Operations, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Compliance, and Risk
**Qualifications**:
You Have:
- Experience: 5+ years of product management responsibilities
- Experience launching a 0-1 product
- A collaborative approach: Track record of delivering results with cross-functional teams
- Entrepreneurial spirit: You get things across the finish line
- Efficiency: Excellent organization and prioritization skills
- Analytical skills: You have a data-driven learning style
- Excitement: You're passionate about Square's mission and new technology
