**Education**:
- Post-secondary degree in Geography, Computer Science/Engineering or related discipline.
- Post-graduate diploma in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is preferred.
- Formal computer and software training/courses related to Esri GIS and databases are required.
- An equivalent combination of education, experience and qualifications may be considered.
**Knowledge**:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation, engineering or IT environment, working with GIS.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in data and database design, creation, maintenance and integration, including complex operations such as topology, modelling, geo-processing, geometric networks, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in written and verbal communication, as well as presentation development and delivery.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment, as well as under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies, including capability to design and lead small projects.
**Responsibilities**:
- Perform all aspects of GIS activities associated with collecting/creating, managing, mapping, editing, reporting and analyzing spatial and asset data. (65% of time)_
- Maintain and enhance Transportation related data required for annual capital and operational works programs, including GIS and related databases by creating, sustaining, validating and integrating Regional engineering, operational and business-level information.
- Create and update databases using GIS and non-spatial methods/tools.
- Produce technical workflow documentation, creates metadata and provides input into reports and presentations.
- Investigate, recommend, implement and support new technology as applicable to supporting Divisional initiatives.
- Analyse spatial data and technology, to uncover opportunities for continuous improvement process and business improvement.- Review and identify when existing Transportation GIS information, business practices and operational processes are no longer sufficient or productive and offer creative solutions, based on statistical analyses and evaluations.
- Liaise with Division, Corporate GIS and asset management resources to design and implement Transportation based GIS and asset solutions.
- Lead and manage small projects and initiatives as related to Transportation GIS.
- Investigate business problems, analyse optional solutions and create recommendations through gathering and analysis of business requirements and needs assessment.
- Collaborate with internal partners on the development of CMMS and asset management related software.
- Train staff working on the development and/or maintenance of Transportation information and monitor integration of this information with Regional datasets.
- Coordinate third party activities, ensuring adherence to standards, policies and procedures, monitoring compliance with requirements set out under the contract, maintaining records and providing reports on progress and issues.

- Must maintain ability to travel in a timely manner to other offices, work locations or sites as authorized by the Corporation for business reasons.
