**House Lead - Child and Youth Care Worker**
Are you committed to the well-being of children and youth? HF Resources Inc. is seeking a House Lead - Child and Youth Care Worker to provide in program leadership, guidance and support in our group living programs for Indigenous children and youth.
**Responsibilities**:
The House Lead is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the program they are assigned. This includes but is not limited to:
- Leading by example; this role is on the floor leadership for the program team.
- Ensuring group home staff follow policy and demonstrate competencies for the CYCW role.
- Ongoing assessment of safety plans and care plans, determining relevance and potential additions/subtractions. Proactively relaying this information to the Cognitive Behavioral Program Manager for review.
- Reviewing all forms of persons served related documentation
- Budgeting for your program, meeting deadlines for all finances.
- Paid On-Call hours participate in the on-call rotation with other House Leads and Program Managers.
- Knowledge of FOIP, FEA, and organizational structures of group care and relevant stakeholders in CFS Alberta.
- Primarily work on day shifts but also will work evenings, and weekends on a rotation schedule.

**Leadership**: The individual must be able to lead and supervise a team of program staff, ensuring they are motivated, productive, and providing quality care to the children and youth.
**Communication**: Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with staff, children, youth, management, external professionals, and stakeholders. Clear and effective communication is necessary for conveying instructions, advocating for the persons served, and maintaining positive relationships.
**Organizational skills**: Highly organized to manage schedules, assign shifts, coordinate activities, and ensure that all administrative tasks are completed accurately and on time.
**Cultural competence**: Given the focus on working with Indigenous children and youth, cultural competence is crucial. The ability to understand, respect, and incorporate Indigenous culture and practices into the program is essential for building trust and rapport with the persons served and their communities.
**Problem-solving**: The ability to quickly identify and address challenges, whether they involve the safety and well-being of the persons served, staffing issues, or program-related concerns, is essential in this role.
**Empathy and compassion**: Working with vulnerable populations requires a high level of empathy and compassion. You must be able to connect with the children and youth, understand their needs, and provide support in a caring and empathetic manner.
**Flexibility and adaptability**: The nature of working in group care often involves unpredictable situations and changing circumstances. Being flexible and adaptable is crucial for handling unexpected events and adjusting plans as needed to meet the needs of the persons served and the program.
**Critical thinking**: The ability to analyze situations, evaluate risks, and make informed decisions is important for ensuring the safety, well-being, and positive outcomes for the persons served.
**Conflict resolution**: Conflict may arise among staff or with the persons served; the role requires have skills in managing and resolving conflicts in a constructive and respectful manner.
**Budgeting and Financial Management**: You will manage a semi-monthly budget for the house. Overseeing, household expenses, recreational activities, meal planning, grocery ordering, etc. Creating budget returns with receipts of expenses of the program.
**Qualifications**
- Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Minimum three years of experience in a related role.
- Valid Alberta driver’s license with a clean abstract and three years of driving experience.
- Current First Aid/CPR certification.
- Clear Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check and Alberta Child Intervention Record Check; both issued in the last 90 days before hire.
Starting wage is $28 to $32 per hour with a scheduled 40-44 hours per week and 2 weeks paid vacation accrued annually. Benefits plan is 50/50 with employer.
