The Trade Operations team is essential in supporting OMERS' investment groups by managing post-trade workflows for a diverse range of products across various global markets and jurisdictions. The team executes critical middle office functions throughout the lifecycle of multiple investment products within the portfolio. Additionally, the team provides support for non-market trade processing functions and collaborates closely with the trading desk, investment teams, and cross-functional operations teams to verify trade data and resolve trade-related discrepancies.
The Analyst within the Trade Operations team, will play a key role in managing middle office workflows, including trade capture, collateral administration, and facilitating trade processing for non-market transactions. The Analyst will ensure accurate trade capture and post-trade processing for various product types, including equities, fixed income, derivative products and FX contracts. Additional responsibilities may involve onboarding and managing counterparties, vendors, and new products, optimizing post-trade workflows, and supporting lifecycle events for derivative investments.

RESPONSIBILITIES
The Analyst will undertake the following activities as required:
Support the Trading desk by processing non-market trades, ensuring accurate and timely trade capture and amendments across various asset classes.
Provide middle office services for collateral for all products, including coordination and trade booking of daily margin movements (variation margin and initial margin) to ensure timely and accurate settlement, and maintenance of margin balances and related repatriations.
Ensure the accuracy and completeness of the book of record and lifecycle management for FX transactions, including trade matching and validation, contract settlements, supporting asset exposure and performance reporting, maintaining valuation practices and control processes, and post-trade reconciliations.
Identify, recommend, and assist in implementing new workflows and control processes and including the automation of current processes.
Enhance and update existing desk documentation of policies and procedures related to areas of responsibility. Support the ongoing maintenance and development of the team’s documentation and audit manuals.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of OMERS policies regarding investment authority, signing authorities, valuations, and third-party agreements (ISDA/CSA, Clearing Broker, Trading Agreements, and Fund Agreements) to ensure compliance in daily activities.
Maintain a strong understanding of investment products and customer needs to respond quickly and accurately to inquiries and issues that arise.
Foster effective working relationships with CMF teams, the investment division, OMERS investment entities, counterparties, swap providers, custodians, and auditors as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS
University degree in finance or a related discipline. Progressing towards a professional designation such as CFA or is considered an asset. Relevant industry courses are also beneficial.
Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in investment operations with comprehensive operational knowledge of derivatives instruments and other public market asset classes.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential to deal with all levels within the organization. Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Self-motivated and driven; ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, adapt to evolving priorities, and work independently with mínimal supervision.
Detail-oriented, adept in quantitative and qualitative analysis, and eager to learn and improve processes in a dynamic environment.
Proficient in Excel and Word. Experience with investment accounting systems is required. Exposure to Charles River Development (CRD) and Bloomberg is an asset.
