**What will you do**:
- Provide direction for the BC operations and the development of an annual workplan and budget in alignment with corporate strategic goals to solicit annual funding from WorkSafeBC. Responsible for the continued function of the local Energy Safety Canada BC Advisory Committee and its Terms of Reference and ensuring ensure these terms of reference align with ESC bylaws and contractual requirements of WorkSafeBC. Accountable for the delivery of the annual workplan and fiscal accountability for the BC budget while working closely with input received from the Committee.
- Liaise with industry personnel, regulators, community leaders, and external industry representatives to increase opportunities to promote shared safety practices and provide effective training, expert audit services, and professional advice to the local BC work force. Participate in trade shows, conferences, and local industry organization meetings where appropriate to champion the safety services and products offered by ESC.
- Attend mangers meetings, regulatory partnership meetings, and industry association meetings, provincial association meetings, regional stakeholder meetings etc. to provide input into products and services and ensure familiarity with all health and safety issues and emerging trends potentially impacting the energy sector and the delivery of all ESC products and services
- Facilitate the day-to-day operations of the Fort St. John office by providing supervision and direction to area staff to ensure strong customer service and appropriate facility maintenance. Ensure FSJ office staff are well briefed on safety requirements and area responsibilities to ensure a strong safety culture is maintained to a high audit standard.
- Monitor the training and safety services offered internally at the BC office or by our Authorized Training Partners in BC and northeast AB to the ESC’s course evaluation strategy is followed. Provide direction to local staff on the monitoring of our authorized training partners and internal course delivery to ensure quality delivery of training material and report any issues to evaluations team for investigation.
- Provide supervision for safety delivery services by directing the activities of personnel regarding engagement of regional stakeholders through coordination of user groups, information sessions, etc. Supervise and provide direction to staff in regard to customer service, facility service delivery, facility maintenance, and interoffice corporate services responsibilities
- Initiate and deliver workshops on key industry issues to provide education to employers and their workers to enhance the safety knowledge of key present and upcoming safety issues and ESC’s existing products and services.
- Market, promote and ensure consistent delivery of the HSA’s annual workplan, IRP’s, and other ESC products and services
- Other duties as required
**What you need to succeed**:
- Post-Secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, leadership, business administration, or another related field preferred.
- 3 years’ experience in managerial or supervisory positions, preferably with a background in occupational health and safety is preferred.
- Other combinations of training and experience may be acceptable
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to client satisfaction
- Communicate effectively to stakeholders with a positive attitude and reflect patience and professionalism in all conversations.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to analyze data and propose ideas and projects to enhance industry’s safety
- Ability to change and adapt as required as well as install a positive view when guiding others toward the change
- Well-developed presentation and public speaking skills with a strong ability to influence others
- Exemplary organization skills
- Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure and deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
