**JOB SUMMARY**

As this is a new program, we are looking for a diplomatic, multi-tasker who can work in a fast-paced environment and work collaboratively with the wrap-around liaison. A Community Resource Support Worker empowers and supports individuals seeking support. To offer hope to clients by sharing their stories, offering mentorship and support, advocating for client needs, and supporting an integrated and harm reduction-oriented experience. These can include, but are not limited to, cultural activities, outside organizational support, and agencies that assist in navigating the health and recovery systems. Using a culturally informed model rooted in harm reduction, the Peer Support/Outreach Worker walks alongside clients in their self-identified and self-determined goals for after-care, healing, culture, and community integration while advocating for access and rights as needed.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Meet with the Client Services Coordinator to support client case plans.
- May assist clients with appointments, liaise with community and Tsuut'ina programs, support the wrap-around team, and work side-by-side with the Client Services Coordinator.
- As an Outreach Peer Support Worker, you will provide support that complements the work of a multidisciplinary team in harm reduction.
- The team functions together to provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services for clients with addiction and mental health challenges.
- Conduct regular home visits; actively involve the client in planning, goal setting and decision-making.
- Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Establish workload priorities, adjust to new or unexpected events, problem solve. and deal effectively with conflict situations.
- You will focus on establishing housing, financial, food and clothing, transportation and social support for clients.
- You will be responsible for providing education and coaching support related to daily living skills and activities (attending appointments, money management, searching for jobs, grocery shopping, etc.), observing and reporting changes in the clients' behaviors, participation and ability to function independently to the interdisciplinary team.
- Through your own lived experience(s) with addiction and mental illness, and experiences of recovery and resilience, you will authentically inspire hope in clients by sharing your recovery story, offering mentorship and recovery support, advocating for client needs; and supporting an integrated and recovery-oriented treatment experience.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including but not limited to reporting.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS**:

- Desired Education and Experience:

- Lived experience with addiction, homelessness, and mental health issues, and be willing to share these personal experiences.
- Experience navigating paths to healing and working with individuals using culturally informed strategies.
- A minimum of two years' experience working with diverse and marginalized populations, particularly the homeless.
- One year of recent related work experience with an emphasis on mental health, addictions, homelessness and social services.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and experience:

- ASSIST training
- Mental Health First Aide
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- Naloxone Certification
- Desired Knowledge:

- Knowledge of Indigenous language and culture.
- Knowledge of systemic issues such as poverty and stigma.
- Knowledge and experience of the principles and practice of harm reduction.
- Knowledge of the holistic addictions model, including stages of change and harm reduction, cultural pillars of healing and artistic forms of medicine.
- Personal Attributes:

- Ability to problem solve with tact, cooperation, and persistence.
- Ability to maintain healthy boundaries.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Ability to establish workload priorities.
- General Employment Requirements:

- Valid Alberta Driver’s License, and reliable transportation.
- Must be willing to sign an Oath of Confidentiality.
- Must be willing to travel and hold a current calid credit for travel purposes.
- Criminal Record Check, and Vulnerable Sector Check.
