Trans & Gender Diverse Student Support Coordinator
**Salary Range**: $54,674 to $70,594

Under the direction of the Superintendent responsible for Equity and Human Rights and the Principal of Equity, Inclusion and Anti-Oppression, the Trans and Gender Diverse Student Support Coordinator assists and supports 2SLGBTQ+ students and families well-being and overcoming challenges; educating staff and building partnerships among schools; and collaborating with local 2SLGBTQ+ communities and organizations in support of student success.
The position requires ‘in person’ attendance at 133 Greenbank Road (Main Administration Building); Frequent meetings and local travel to schools and community partner sites required; with some meetings conducted virtually from the office.
Knowledge of community resources and services for trans, gender diverse, and 2SLGBTQ+ youth and families in Ottawa;
Research and presentation skills for developing and delivering workshops, consultation, and education about gender identity, gender expression and 2SLGBTQ+ identities and experiences to children, youth and adults;
Familiarity with relevant Board policies, procedures, current educational and equity issues; and familiarity with the Ontario Human Rights Code;
Ability to work as part of team and in a culturally diverse environment;
Excellent communication, networking, group facilitation and leadership skills;
Interpersonal and communication skills to support students and school communities and provide advocacy in complex situations;
Organization and time management skills to plan, prioritize work, collaborate with central departments and coordinate with multiple school sites;
Ability to track, manage and interpret data for the purpose of assessing efficacy and monitoring accountability;
Ability to gather and evaluate information from a range of sources such as individual interviews, school setting observations, collateral contacts with agencies and professionals, documents;
Ability to be self-directed and work independently with mínimal supervision;
Ability to prepare for meetings between school personnel and parents/guardians to address school concerns;
Conflict resolution skills to resolve issues with students and District personnel;
Ability to promote and/or maintain positive relations between school and home
Ability to develop and maintain close working relationships and collaborate with school communities and central departments;
**Education and Experience Required**:
Lived experience as a Two Spirit, trans, nonbinary or gender diverse person is an asset. Applicants who are Black, Indigenous, and/or people of colour will be prioritized;
completion of a community college diploma or university degree in Gender Studies, Social Work, or a related field;
Minimum two years of experience working with trans, gender diverse, and 2SGLBTQ+ children, youth and/or communities preferred; An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered;
Experience developing and delivering workshops, consultation, and education about gender identity, gender expression and 2SLGBTQ+ identities and experiences to children, youth and adults;
Experience and willingness to support educators or social service providers in challenging learning and shifting values and attitudes related to equity and inclusion;
Familiarity navigating OCDSB schools, departments and systems is an asset.
