We're looking for detail oriented, proactive individuals who are ready to make a difference.

The transportation specialist at Finning is responsible for the on time delivery of good to both internal and external customers. You will manage and book shipments to ensure timely delivery while improving Safety and minimizing risks.

Job Description:
Performance
- Manage logistics service provider performance against SLA’s by analyzing lane and routing performance over time.
- Responsible for monitoring all shipments to ensure on time delivery of goods. Seek out quick-win solutions for shipments that are tracking late and proactively communicate to customers.
- Seek out continuous improvement opportunities and proactively resolve issues.
- Work closely with internal partners to ensure existing routes continue to deliver required results. Adjust routes as needed to meet changing requirements over time.

Day-to-Day Operations
- Proactively align with customers on service requirements for transportation requests and provide optimal solutions while minimizing costs.
- Responsible for securing and booking all ad hoc transportation requests from FINCA
- Responsible for track and trace of shipments booked by transportation team
- Respond to inquiries made to the transportation team

Freight Audit & Other tasks
- Responsible for the audit and approval of freight invoices to ensure timely payments and accurate record keeping
- Other responsibilities to be reasonably assigned to meet changing business requirements

Specific Skills:

- Effective negotiator with strong decision-making skills.
- Detail oriented with an eye for the big picture
- Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Results oriented with a bias for action.
- Above average excel knowledge

Knowledge:

- Extensive knowledge of parts distribution networks, heavy equipment logistics, international freight forwarding and logistics principles.
- Strong business acumen
- General understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes

Education & Experience:

- Post-secondary education in transportation or logistics
- Knowledge of Manhattan Transportation Management System (TMS) considered an asset
- Minimum 3 years of experience in international trade, utilizing freight forwarders and involving multi modal transportation, TL, LTL, FCL, LCL, parcel and air freight.
- Managing transportation of heavy equipment would be an asset
