Opportunity

This position works with students in planning and achieving goals identified with the student. This requires a sound understanding of child development, goal setting and other strategies to assist a student to have success.

**Responsibilities**:
1. Support Resilience in Youth.
- Understanding the importance of creating a safe, nurturing environment
- Acting as a positive role model for youth

2. To Support High - Quality Learning Environments.
- Seeking out opportunities for experiential learning and community connection through recreational programming

3. To maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive environment.
- Handling emergency situations safely and in accordance with agency policy.
- Maintaining good safety practices and a preventative approach.
- Understanding the stresses of the job and taking steps to prevent personal burn-out.
- Is comfortable providing individual supervision and behavioral support when required.
- Supervising areas outside the school including break area and resource room.

4. Participate in case management.
- Contributing to developing supportive approaches towards achieving individual goals for youth.
- Participating in daily documentation as required by agency protocols.
- Maintaining contact with families and/or caregivers where appropriate.
- Maintaining contact with Social Workers or other professionals as necessary.
- Participate in IEP development outcomes.

5. Maintain Administrative Policies
- Attending and participates as required in all staff meetings, planning meetings, committee meetings, and agency staff meetings.
- Communicating effectively with both co-workers and supervisors.
- Maintaining youth files.
- Maintaining petty cash records according to the financial policies of the agency.
- Carrying out administrative tasks as assigned.

**Qualifications**:

- BSW or BA CYC plus a minimum of one year experience in an education setting. in a related field plus one year experience, an equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered
- Experience and understanding of working with FASD.
- Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector.

Additional Assets
- Valid Level 1 First Aid Certificate will be an asset
- Class 4 Driver's License or willing to obtain Class 4
- Proven ability to work in an anti-oppression, anti-racist framework
- Proven ability to facilitate workshops.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and partners
- Proven ability to work within a high stress environment.
- Proven skill in conflict resolution, mediation and engagement of youth
- Suicide Prevention Training
- Trauma Informed/Resilience Training
- Substance use, mental health Training
- ACES (Adverse Childhood Experiences) training
- Proven experience working with Indigenous, LGBTQ2SIA+, BIPOC populations of youth.
