**The opportunity**

Projets Autochtones du Québec (PAQ) is a not-for-profit organization offering shelter and culturally adapted activities and services to homeless and at-risk First Nations, Inuit, and Métis women and men. Located in downtown Montreal, our shelters provide a safe place to sleep and three meals a day, 365 days a year for over 100 people. PAQ’s housing programs offers a stable living environment and access to many services. PAQ provides a sense of belonging and trust developed through community events, psycho-social and crisis support, access to legal and health services, and indigenous cultural and arts programs

**What you’ll be doing**

The Kitchen Coordinator is responsible for kitchen and supply management at PAQ and nutritional oversight of all meals and food programs.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Overall responsibility of kitchen operations
- Plan and deliver three meals per day, 7 days per week for over 100 people
- Create a menu and order all food as required and within budget
- Maintain inventory and record of food, supplies and equipment
- Adhere to all sanitation and food production codes
- Ensure that all products received via delivery meet specifications, that the invoicing is correct in respect to quantity and quality.
- Clean and maintain an organized kitchen at all times. Follow all required checklists and cleaning schedules (daily, monthly and quarterly).
- Assure the proper care and maintenance of all food service equipment; identify equipment needs for food preparation and service.
- Ensure food quality by maintaining high levels of cleanliness, organization, storage, and sanitation of food products.
- Prepare traditional Indigenous meals for special occasions (Holidays, Shelter events) for 100 people and more
- Be the first point of contact for kitchen volunteers and work collaboratively with the coordinator of volunteers re scheduling and coordination training.
- Manage food donations

**What we’re looking for**

**Skills and Experience
- Demonstrate understanding and commitment to reconciliation with Canada’s Indigenous peoples
- Inclusive, non-judgmental, and respectful of people from various backgrounds
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing conditions.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in or managing an industrial or commercial kitchen
- MAPAQ certification in _Formation en hygiène et salubrité alimentaires _et _restauration_
- Experience cooking Indigenous traditional country foods is helpful
- Good verbal communication and time management
- Must be able to work with mínimal supervision and have demonstrate strong initiative.

**Contract**:Full-time, permanent (35 hours per week, flexible schedule to be discussed)

**Location**:Downtown Montréal at the PAQ shelter; this role cannot be carried out remotely

**Compensation**:starting at 32.67$
