The Ministry of Assisted living and Social Services (ALSS) leads income, employment, disabilities and community-based supports, family violence prevention, and family & community support services. The ministry supports Albertans through a person-centred, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.
Within the Disability Services Division, the Disability Policy branch leads program policy, innovation and statutory oversight and reporting for the Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) and the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) programs, focusing on accountability/quality assurance, innovation and policy excellence.

**Role Responsibilities**:
- The Learning and Development Training Consultant reports to the Manager of Statutory Oversight and Priorities in the Disability Policy branch.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Delivering training (both in-person and remote) and ensuring delivery staff and other trainers (i.e. community partners) have the required skills and knowledge to deliver Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) and Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) supports and services.
- Support the instructional design (analysis, design, development, delivery, implementation, evaluation, and improvement) of curriculum for delivery staff across the province.
- Overseeing and managing the delivery of training to Disability Services Division (DSD) staff, ensuring value for dollars, ties to ministry and corporate goals, and use of best practices in adult learning.
- On-going maintenance and enhancements to existing DSD training and development initiatives to ensure course content is current, reflective of changing client needs, and relevant.
- Building collaborative relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure that learning projects are successful.

**Qualifications**:
**Requirement**: University graduation in a related field plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
**Equivalency**: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
The position requires strong knowledge and understanding of the following areas:
- Designing, developing, delivering and evaluating adult training
- Expertise in coaching, facilitation in various modalities and train the trainer
- Current and emerging training methods, technology, tools and learning aids
- Online training delivery methodologies and tools
- Knowledge of PDD and FSCD programs and service delivery staff needs
- Strong knowledge and familiarity with computer programs/training of computer programs.
- DSD and Ministry business strategies, priorities, programs, and resources
- GoA learning, training and development initiatives and strategies
