Colonnade BridgePort's continued growth and expansion has created an opportunity for a head of Fund Management located in the Ottawa Head Office.
**Vice President, Fund Management**
Reporting to the COO and working closely with the CEO, the Vice President, Fund Management (VPFM) will develop, implement, and execute CBP's Fund Management Business Strategy as well as manage the current portfolio of managed assets. This role will be involved in portfolio management, origination, structuring and fundraising activities for private real estate funds, which will include fund modelling and other fund administration matters. They will manage the full spectrum of responsibility in real estate investments as well as portfolio and asset management. The VPFM and their team will work collaboratively with internal stakeholder groups to deliver on their mandates and provide regular updates to investors.
This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with at least 10 years of leadership experience in a real estate fund setting that has a strong understanding of the real estate fund management business. They will have the opportunity to take ownership of the Fund Management business within CBP and create a client/investor intimate offering to grow CBP to the next level. This individual will have a good track record in running an end-to-end fund management cycle, particularly with extensive involvement in fund raising and have seen through various acquisition deals. They will also play a key role in building upon current asset and investment management processes to enable CBP to continue to scale its fund management platform into a long-term self-sustaining business model.
You are degree qualified with at least 10 years of leadership experience in a real estate fund setting and you have strong understanding of real estate fund management business. You have in depth knowledge of fund operations for real estate funds. You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with investors and senior management. You come with a good track record in running end to end fund management cycle, particularly with extensive involvement in fund raising and have seen through various acquisition deals. You understand how to generate appropriate risk adjusted fund return of both closed and open-ended funds by optimizing the portfolio strategy and the fund balance sheet. You can build a team to manage the existing funds/AUM and build a team and platform to grow the fund management business.
**Responsibilities**:
- ** New fund capital raise and deployment**
- Work with CBP’s internal team to close the new CBP Fund including capital strategy, deployment plan, and plan to execute the capital raise for the second closing.
- Work with CBP team to establish and formalize LP structure, legal documents, and governance policies.
- ** Build a scalable and sustainable Fund Management (FM) business**
- Evaluate existing contractual obligations to ensure there is a complete understanding of them.
- Evaluate current processes and procedures to identify gaps or process improvements required.
- Evaluate and establish FM business unit resourcing requirements and gaps.
- Work with the CEO and COO to develop and execute the plan to build CBP's FM platform to accomplish the formation of a new fund and manage our existing AM mandates and ultimately build the platform to scale sustainably.
- ** Existing Asset Management portfolio of assets**
- Work with the current AM and IM teams to execute on all current asset management agreements
- Review underwriting models and cash flow analysis and projections.
- Review the asset strategy annually including making recommendations to adjust the strategy to meet the capital investment objectives.
- Work collaboratively with internal service providers (LM, PM, DM) to prepare annual leasing, operational and capital budgets together with supporting material that meet the asset strategy.
- Assist in the mapping and scheduling of all key annual objectives required as part of the AM agreement and mandates.
- Monitor asset performance through regular meetings with the PM and LM teams, review monthly reports and perform ongoing reviews of leasing activity, major expenses, and capital programs.
- Establish a regular review process with the PM team for major capital upgrades and special projects.
- Assist in the review of leasing transactions for consistency with the underwriting, review offers to lease, lease agreements, amendments, extensions, etc.
- Assist with preparation of investor annual, semi-annual, and quarterly reports.
