Assistant Maintenance Manager

**Position Overview**
The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible in assisting and learning from the Maintenance Manager in his/her duties, which consists of overseeing a team of Trades People in the delivery of preventative and corrective maintenance. The Assistant Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the execution of activities performed by Trades People and external vendors to ensure that work is performed in accordance to established processes and practices.
**Responsibilities**
- Assist the Manager with operations of the department by coordinating, planning, setting priorities, and following-up on maintenance activities to facilitate optimum plant performance, including labour/resources/shift requirements.
- Assists the Manager by overseeing the duties completed by Trades People by motivating, inspiring and demonstrating excellent work ethics.
- Coordinating with the production team to ensure the safe and efficient operation of production equipment.
- Provides trouble shooting in breakdown situations to ensure production efficiencies can be achieved.
- Run and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
- Ensure that the members of the maintenance department are committed to always following safe work procedures including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Ensure all work performed adheres to provincial and federal safety regulations, codes and specifications. Identify and report any potential hazards, near misses and incidents.
- Supervise and ensure contractors adhere to facility procedures and achieve contractual requirements, including equipment installations, modifications and maintenance including as required on weekends or off-production periods.
- Represents the Maintenance Department on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
- Provides vacation coverage for the Maintenance Manager
- Other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
**Skills and Qualifications**
- Certified Journeyperson or post secondary education related to Maintenance and Operations
- 3 years leadership experience in facilities management and at least 1 year experience in managing employees and resources required
- 3 years experience in a manufacturing setting considered an asset
- Commitment to promoting a culture that supports safety, ethical practice, and organizational health.
- Sound knowledge of computerized building management systems and preventative maintenance programs
