We are looking for a driven Account Manager to grow and manage a defined territory across the BC, Interior, Alberta, and the Prairies. This role is responsible for aggressively growing existing accounts while developing new business opportunities across pork, beef, lamb, and chicken categories. A strong focus will be placed on value-added products.
This role requires a strong field presence with approximately 60% of time spent on the road visiting customers.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Spend approximately 60% of working time in market visiting customers across the assigned territory
- Grow existing customer accounts through increased penetration, product mix expansion, and value added solutions
- Develop new business by identifying, targeting, and onboarding new customers within the territory
- Drive sales of core proteins including pork, beef, lamb, and chicken
- Actively promote and expand value added items such as sausages, marinated products, and further processed programs
- Exceed monthly sales budgets through disciplined execution, territory planning, and customer engagement
- Build and execute account specific growth plans focused on volume, margin, and long term partnership
- Protect margins by selling the right mix of products, programs, and value added solutions aligned with company strategy
- Ensure disciplined margin management through product mix optimization and responsible deal structuring
- Work closely with distributors and channel partners to expand market reach, increase distribution, and grow overall business within the territory
- Conduct joint customer calls and business planning with distributor partners where appropriate
- Conduct regular, structured customer visits to understand needs, uncover opportunities, and strengthen relationships
- Prepare and deliver quarterly business reviews and presentations with key customers covering performance, opportunities, and forward plans
- Provide weekly reporting on customer visits including key takeaways, opportunities, risks, and follow ups
- Work closely with internal teams including procurement, operations, customer service, and production to ensure service excellence
- Monitor market conditions, customer trends, and competitor activity within the territory
- Forecast sales accurately and manage territory performance against budget
- Resolve customer issues quickly and professionally including service, quality, and supply challenges

**Qualifications**
- Proven experience in meat sales or food distribution preferred
- Strong understanding of protein categories and value added products
- New business development mindset with the ability to close and grow accounts
- Experience working with distributors or channel partners preferred
- Strong awareness of margins and profitability drivers in protein sales
- Comfortable working independently across a large geographic territory
- Strong organizational skills with disciplined follow up and reporting habits
- Confident presenting to buyers, operators, and senior customer stakeholders
- Willing and able to travel regularly
