About the Role

At Family Services of Greater Vancouver, we’ve been helping people in crisis since 1928. As a non-profit, we help people develop skills and knowledge, empowering our neighbours to create positive change in their lives. Our team is made up of more than 420 staff, including expert counsellors and support workers who provide compassionate, client-centred care to youth experiencing homelessness, families and children impacted by trauma, victims of domestic violence, and other vulnerable people from an evidence-based, trauma-informed lens. We are looking for an experienced and dedicated, Trauma Counsellor with a passion for supporting children, youth and families who have experienced trauma, to join our TASA and SAIP counselling programs and Trauma Services team. Trauma Counsellors, in our TASA and SAIP Programs, provide counselling (both individual and group) for children and youth who have experienced sexual abuse and other experiences of trauma Counselling services include intake, assessment, treatment, referrals, parenting support and education and consultation and collaboration with other service providers. Our Trauma Counsellors support clients in their healing journeys from a feminist, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, intersectional lens.

**Salary**: Grade 13 Step 1 $37.89 - $42.03 per hour

What you bring:
**Education, Training, Experience**
- Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology or equivalent degree (MA, M.Ed, MSW) & registered with a professional body (BCACC, BC College of Social Workers)
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant counselling experience working with children, youth and families who have experienced trauma
- Training in trauma-informed counselling, somatic approaches, parts-work, expressive-arts-based interventions and play therapy

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**
- Solid understanding of the best practices in trauma treatment for working with children, youth and families including somatic approaches, expressive arts-based approaches, the neurobiological impacts of trauma, attachment work, internal family systems/parts-work, and play therapy approaches
- excellent clinical counselling skills (both individual and group counselling)
- Knowledge, skills and experience in working with a diverse client population, who have been impacted by poverty, abuse, neglect, addiction, mental health issues
- Committed to trauma-informed, feminist, anti-oppressive practice and skills to adapt the practice to best meet the needs of clients
- Experience providing parent/caregiver support and psycho-education to parents/caregivers on child development and the impacts of trauma
- Commitment to ongoing professional development as a trauma counsellor

**Additional Requirements**
- Registered with a professional counselling body (i.e. BCACC, or BC College of Social Workers)
- Successful completion of a Criminal Record Check
